Dedicated to the premise that life would be better if we all took ourselves a little less seriously.
Is that supposed to be Marls and Shlara?
It was an uphill climb after the Hofstra thriller. It's not like this is a 10 deep team built for OT slugfests. I'm proud of them all the same, but feel bad we didn't get the breakthrough with Marcus lacing them up. I think that elusive berth is still coming under Tony.
couldn't agree more, mayhugh. the thing that bums me out the most is marcus not being able to get to the dance. we're very unlikely to see another player like him in green and gold again.
Tribe make it next season. Marcus Thornton and the Ewing Theory.
i've entertained that thought lately, mark. but then i watched our offense play without him for three minutes last night and struggle to get an open look. now i'm not quite so sure.
Las Vegas has a preposterously entertaining old school natural history museum. It looks as if it hasn't been updated since 1955. It's a gem.
zman's Vegas updates are the antithesis of 99% of Vegas updates
More like 100% guy!
you've convinced me zman, i'm going to vegas!
that was not ironic. i like natural history museums.
I said it last year after the collapse against Delaware and I'll say it again. That was the best opportunity the Tribe could ever ask for and they blew it in excruciating fashion. Last year's team was better than this year's team but the CAA was weaker this year and Thornton carried the squad to a share of the title. Yet, even as the season progressed, there were troubling signs in many of the losses, especially to the weaker teams in the CAA. Long story short, if the Tribe didn't shoot well, they were in a lot of trouble. Well, what happens when your legs are tired after a 2 OT thriller? You don't shoot well, that's what. There were key moments all during the middle of the game when the Tribe had open looks from 3 that would normally go down and that was the difference. Plus, Northeastern was a terrible matchup for a tired team, running a motion heavy offense that was murder on the Wren's stamina. The Tribe has now lost as many finals as Ferris Bueller had school absences and that's simply an added burden at this point, not that we need any more.I'm sure Shaver is wondering if it will ever happen as he watches the best player in school history head towards graduation. We got a glimpse of life after Marcus when he took a seat in a 20-20 game last night. A few ragged possessions later, it was 29-20 and much of the air had gone out of the Tribe faithful. It's going to be a really difficult recovery mentally for the whole program after losing in brutal fashion last year and then getting all the way back to the finals again. Can they summon up some Buffalo Bills-esque fortitude to make the long journey again, but without their centerpiece? The challenge will be enormous. On a side note, St Francis of NY will host Robert Morris tonight for the Northeast Conference championship and a chance to dance for the first time, thereby shrinking the Tribe's current group from five to four. I'm on the fence about whether I'm rooting for them or not, but I'll tune in to potentially see history anyway.Back to the Tribe. Despite the disappointment, I'll still be tuning in for the NIT and hoping that somehow they can make a run and get to MSG for the semifinals. That would arguably be a better venue for Marcus to end his career than a Thursday afternoon loss in Omaha against Wisconsin.Hark upon the GaleSP
Rhychotherium! Uintatherium! Megatherium! What a hall of ancient mammals.
i love mammalian megafauna.
well said, sammy. that 9-0 run after we clawed the game back to even was a dagger.
jimmy graham traded to the seahawks
another discovery of a mutual friend/acquaintance between shlara & myself. shlara - you sent happy bday wishes to someone today on the fb...she and I were friends in college...cray cray! how do you know leasa? h.s.?
Disregard...I see that you two did in fact attend the same h.s. A small world. But as my old man says, "Yeah, but I'd sure hate to have to paint it."
Danimal, your dad is Steven Wright?
zson pulled a Moises alou in the bathroom at the playground. I guess he will have tough hands.
Better he pull a Moises than a Pedro Guerrero. In unrelated news, the NY Post told me today the baby b/w the Klitschko brother and Hayden Panettiere is named Kaya. That makes me happy.
They big Marley fans?
There was a LV Marshall standing guard over the playground all day. Sweet gig for him and reassuring for me.
Danimal--the Venn Diagram of our friends is pretty interesting. And, that cartoon could be me and Marls...I often get confused as Lucy van Pelt, but I would never yank that football away.
Looking like I'll keep my job after all, and they're playing nice in the sandbox to keep the troops together. Best part is I may get green light to hire a guy. We have one on focus. His first name is Dong. His last name is Wang. I find this more amusing than I probably should.
I assume you'll call him The Dong or Donger.
In once worked with a guy named Wei Ding Dong. He was a very serious dude so I never asked if his name was anatomically appropriate.
St. Francis spits the bit as well.
He just wanted to play through...http://bit.ly/1GrlQzG
