Thunder(snow) Struck

One of the recurring themes of our work here at G:TB is the pursuit of passion and joy. Very few people in this world get to spend their days doing the things that make them happiest. Those that do are worth celebrating. And worth emulating.

I want to be as passionate about something as Jim Cantore is about the weather.

You're likely familiar with Cantore, the Weather Channel's alpha meteorology geek. He's equal parts carnival barker, scientist, and daredevil, with Ed Hochuli's guns and Dick Vitale's enthusiasm for his work.

And this week in Boston, he found his muse:

Rock on, Jim Cantore. We feel you.

as clarence ages, he's growing increasingly nocturnal. daylight frightens and confuses him.

No snl chatter from last night or this eve. Okay...I'll start. I only watched half of it - overall it was about what I expected. There was some disappointment with the beginning - Jimmy & Justin? Justin? Jimmy, okay...just feel that JT isn't deserving. He's terrific, multi-talented and I have nothing against him, but was he ever a cast member?
And Chevy Chase - has aged A LOT in just the past few years. I feel he is no longer comfortable in front of a live camera (speaking of pre-show red carpet stuff).
Ecstatic to see Norm MacDonald...I may have been mistaken but I thought he was banned from the show.

"this morning", not "this eve"

timberlake and fallon kill it on a consistent basis. no problem here with that choice. the eddie murphy stuff was sad and weird. seinfeld was great. the jeopardy skit is never not funny.

He's a big dick that guy Murphy. More full of himself than the avg celeb. Props though for the babe he had in tow. Whoa. Pretty sure she's sub-30 and a 10. Roker interviewed him pre-show - He's a giant penis.

all you dc jerks are probably off today aren'tcha? jerks.

you got that right, danimal. and we're getting a dusting of snow right now, so we're probably 'working from home' tomorrow, too.

Not ALL of us have the day off today Danimal. Some of us private sector folks still have to work. But tomorrow should be a snow day for everyone in the DMV

SE VA getting 6-9" today, maybe more. We don't handle it well. Shirley school/work will be closed tomorrow. I'm banking on it.

And by "banking" you mean "drinking"? I hear 8" will hit DC tonight. Good luck Washingtonians. I'll send you some white truffle oil if needed.

if you're in the mood to read 10,000 words on isis' theological underpinnings, here's the place to do it:

Mary Carillo's color commentary for the Westminster dog show always kills me. It's like having me do color for jai alai.

Had an epic drive from Ottawa to Roanoke today. Only saw two plows in action for the last 150 miles of I-81. Spic and span on the Winchester end but a fustercluck all the way south. Virginians are horrible snow drivers.

First snow of the winter for us though, so kids are excited about snow without -15 degree temps.
