Sportcoat Punk

In the comments section several days ago, Clarence sung the (much deserved) praises of the only band that matters. I thought he'd like to see what punk rock looks and sounds like when it gets to be our parents' age. (Hint: it's different, though not in a bad way.)

By way of comparison, the same song, just a few years earlier:

  1. I love the fact that each clip starts with a sip of beer. This is one of my favorite Clash songs.

  3. Dave, it's an easy song. Pad your stats.

Who's the jerk who keeps shouting the lyrics right before Mick Jones sings them? Lame. Reminds me of a story Patton Oswalt told on the Henry Rollins show about a fan who inexplicably thought he was helping by shouting out punchlines before Patton could say them.

And The Clash was The Only Band That Matters, but they were also one of the worst dressed (non-hair-band) bands ever. Just awful.

  4. Are Chris Hayes and Rachel Maddow the same person? I can't be the first person that has asked this question.

  12. i believe whatever ryen russillo tells me to believe.

also, i agree with the nats' position. it's clearly the best 'business' decision, and while it has an impact on the field, i'm not sure it'll be as big an impact as we might guess. yes, strasburg is their best pitcher, but even without him, they've got the best starters' era in the league. zimmerman, gonzalez, detwiler, jackson in a short series is really damn good.
