This Week in G:TB Sesame Street Eulogies

A post count post about a Count? Dave, is that meta?

Anyhoo, sad news down on Sesame Street this morning, as the voice of a legendary character (and thus, in my mind, the actual character) has passed away.
Jerry Nelson, the puppeteer who taught innumerable children to count over the years as the voice of one of Sesame Street’s most popular characters, died Thursday in his Cape Cod home. He was 78.
Not only was Nelson the voice of the numbers-obsessed Count von Count, but he was the man behind Camilla the Chicken and Lew Zealand, two minor but terrific Muppets. The Count, er, Nelson's funeral is expected to be a star-studded affair, with Count Chocula, Vampira, the sparkly kid from Twilight, and Nosferatu just some of the luminaries expected in attendance.

Before we go...here's the Count, the Mets and I'm Keith Hernandez:

Sad stuff. The Count was my favorite. He sounded like my grandfather.

I could watch this close-up shot of Sharapova warming up for a while. And I just might. Thanks DVR.

I am impossibly excited about the beginning of college football. It's a freaking smorgasbord of games beginning with South Carolina-Vandy on Thursday night.

Giddy. And several good games especially for a first week.

come on you whites!

also, did we know that sam huff's role on redskins' broadcasts has been downsized?

I want to be excited but these week 1 games aren't giving me too much. I've got a good feeling about the Boise-MSU game on Friday. Other than that...I don't know. I feel like Bama is going to roll Michigan in a really boring way. Clemson-Auburn is watchable.

I am excited about Florida at Texas A&M next week, even though it breaks up the traditional Tennessee conference opener (which doesn't even get CBS coverage this year).

Does anyone else find Michigan fans to be really really annoying?

I only know two Michigan fans. One of them is pretty annoying.

I'm always excited for the beginning of the Gator's season to see who has developed and if any freshman will contribute but especially so this year as last year's team was so young. It's a pivotal year for a number of guys.

Other than that, Boise-MSU is the game I think I'm most excited for. Though I'll definitely watch Bama break Denard Robinson in half. And I think Clemson-Auburn will be entertaining.
