Good Seats Still (Always) Available

The Nationals and Marlins played a game last night, and no one came. No, seriously, check out this photo via @moneymetalcakes twitter feed. I mean, why do they even bother having an upper deck at Sun Life Stadium?

I would love to laugh at the Marlins' and their joke fan support, but then I remember a post like this from a Nats home game last year, and just shake my head at the shared fan indifference:

Nats and Marlins home baseball, catch the excitement. And sit wherever you'd like.

That one fan you see in the stands - it's not me.

i applaud these cities: they finally figured out that baseball is boring.

I'm ashamed to admit this, but I missed Part 1 of Hot Sauce Committee.

zman, I believe they are release pt.2 first. So you did not miss pt.1. I think it was due to MikeD's cancer treatment.

I feel like I should know all this. Fuck you, cancer.

Teej - games are pretty important. It's quarterfinals of the Champs League. Teams play two matches, one in each team's stadium. 1st Tiebreaker is aggregate goals. 2nd is most goals by the road team.

Man U and Chelsea are facing each other. They will play 3 times in the next 6-7 weeks: twice in Champs League, once in EPL. Matchup lost a bit of luster when Chelsea shat its EPL bed recently. It had a small shot of making a run at Man U, but had a bad tie last weekend.

Quarters wrap up next week. Semis pick up in late April.

if only someone knew enough about soccer to post a champions league update

Guess I won't have to worry about getting Nationals tickets when I come to DC next month? Haven't been to new stadium yet. To comment on the previous posts, although I love watching baseball live, hardly any American sport can compare to being at an EPL match between two rivals. I will be the fan ejected from spitting on Wayne Rooney when Man U visits Soldier Field this summer. Arsenal!

There are old people in my office building doing aerobics to Billy Ocean right now. I had to fight the urge to jump in and do the Carlton with them.

HH, I agree. An EPL game has four times the atmosphere and hatred than any sporting event in the US. Be it NFL, NHL or college rivalry games.

If you are a true sports fan you have to catch at least one EPL game in your lifetime. Just to experience it.

Mark, get out of my dreams...and get into my car.

Beep beep, yeah.

I like baseball when I can look at the AL East standings and see the Red Sox at the bottom of the column. Even better when they're winless.

The SF giant fan who was beaten into a coma at Dodger Stadium would likely take issue with these comments.

Even better Teej...it was Caribbean Queen.

TR, it's short description of fan violence in the UK. http://goo.gl/KI4Xg

The reason you don't see fan on fan violence inside a EPL stadium is the two populations are segregated from each other in the stadium. And they enter through different gates.

But nowhere in the US do they section off parts of neighborhoods and prevent fans from rival teams to enter certain pubs or areas in a town prior to and after matches. For some matches, they even put fences up in the middle of Tube stations to prevent them from mixing.
