ReplyDeleteRob - I got Lasik in 2003. I had been legally blind as of the 4th grade. While the 20 page disclaimer prior to the procedure was a little scary, the procedure itself was a matter of minutes. I went home, took a 2-hour nap, and I could see pretty much perfectly when I woke up. I still have 20/10 vision, which means I could be a fighter pilot, if only I could fit in the cockpit (insert gay joke here).
ReplyDeleteWhen I did it, they made you sleep in goggles for a couple of weeks to avoid rubbing your eyes and tearing the incision. Not sure if they still do that, but it might scare your wife...
Flynn got lasik back when it was a fairly new phenomenon, so folks bought into it when he showed up at the bar Mr. Day's in DC with wrap-around blind person shades and a flouresecent mesh vest and pretended to be blind all night. Many stupidly funny stories ensued.
