Gheorghe's Title Game Prediction

Rob says he's too busy to get some words up about tonight's game, so he made the awful mistake of telling me to put something together. Yep, this is what I came up with...I've got Panthro 74-72, and I'll be over at Mark's web establishment hoping all night that Packer gets hit with a piece of falling debris.

Memphis (Panthro) vs. Kansas (Chaka Khan)

every time (and i do mean every time) i hear sasha kaun's name, my brain automatically leaps to the "chaka khan let me rock you, let me rock you chaka khan/let me rock you, that's all i wanna do" refrain. nice job, teej.

This final, much like most of the tourney, is as as unexciting as it gets. is anybody who doesn't $$$ riding on the outcome genuinely fired up for this game? UCLA-UNC was the only marquee matchup we could've hoped for.

Quite a fart of a tourney, all in all, despite the remarkable performance of Mrs. Curry. I was listening to XM radio in the car and they played Stacy's Mom by Fountains of Wayne. I wondered how many times Stephen Curry will hear renditions of "Stephen's Mom" on the road next year.

One more thing: Hansborough will be somewhere between Eric Montross and Keith Van Horn in the pros. Guys are going to LOVE posterizing him left and right. I pray he doesn't end up on the Knicks.

I think it's the last sentence that gets me the most:

SHREVEPORT, LA
Dancer at Topless Club Catches Fire During Routine

Posted: April 4, 2008 10:34 PM

Club patrons were astonished at what took place at Larry Flynt's Hustler Club early Friday morning, a dancer caught fire around 4am. The dancer who used fire in her routine accidentally burned her face, and was rushed to the hospital by ambulance. KSLA News 12 is told from witnesses that the incident happened very fast. In a matter of seconds they say the dancer's head was engulfed in flames, that's when guest services ran up on stage and covered the dancer to put out the flames. The activity in the club paused as she was being treated by paramedics. She was then rushed to the hospital where she is recovering from first degree burns to her face. Club management refuses to comment on the matter, and did not return several phone calls placed to Larry Flynt's Hustler Club. We are told however, employees there are concerned for the dancer and say that she's a "great girl".

i respectfully disagree, rhyme-o. tonight's game has the potential to be fannntastic. it'll be uptempo, there will be more athleticism on display than any game this side of the nba, and there are a ton of good storylines. i'm quite excited for it.

As much as I hate agreeing with the munchkin, I too am very fired up for tonight's game.

rob said...

"agreeing with the munchkin" - that could be a useful new slang term for any number of things.

I had Joey Dorsey proofread my post. Not a strong job by him on my spelling of Tyler Hansbrough.

Did we ever confirm that Douglas-Roberts has the entire Declaration of Independence on his right arm? It's hard to read b/c it's in 4-point font.

CDR's more old school...it's actually the Magna Carta.

TR said...

Magna Carta...it's Spanish for whale's vagina.

Actually, nobody knows what that means...

The Jags just paid David Gerrard $60 mil over 6 yrs? That sounds awful.

rob said...

technically, they agreed to send out a joint press release indicating that they had signed him to a contract that could maybe, possibly be worth $60m over 6 years in the unlikely event the team chooses to honor the final 2-3 years of the deal.

First, I agree with Rob/TJ on tonight. Lots of good individual matchups, fast paced play and a number of future pros.

As for Sasha...I immediately think Sasha Kaun...Sasha Kaun Sash Kaun. Same basic premise, I suppose.

Finally, TJ stole the Magna Carta bit...nice job Carlos.

T.J. said...

From who? Being compared to Carlos Mencia is not a good thing.

I figured you appreciate it.

Rob's boy from Storming the Floor used it in his post on Deadspin yeterday.

I get Yanks/Rays on the deuce at 7 and the title game at 920 or so...good times tonight, good times.

"Agreeing with the munchkin" is definitely a euphemism for fellatio.

Quite a meltdown occuring in the top of the 12th by some Pirates scrub...

Chaka Khan finally joins the ranks of Genghis, Kublai, and Wratho with the stirring victory last night.

Here's a piece of related trivia. The Chaka Khan song that Sasha Kaun's name evokes in Rob's and Mark's brains (sometimes it seems they share one brain, actually) is called "I Feel for You." Who wrote that song?

It's Prince. Helpful hint: Prince is the answer to 2 out of 3 music trivia questions that begin, "Who wrote..."

Sausha Khan is coached by Bill Self. And nobody loves his own self quite like Prince does. So there you go.

T.J. said...

Paul Reubens loved his own self quite a bit too.

rob said...

i guessed prince, using the 2/3 corollary you pointed out. you'll win more bets than you lose by guessing the purple one when given that question.

zman said...

My guess was John Phillip Sousa.

Mark said...

Damn...I went with Francis Scott Key.

I can't believe that you jokers seem to spend every waking minute watching, thinking, talking, and/or blogging about sports and related minutiae, but have nothing to say about last night's game. At the very least, can't we get a "free throws are huge" post?

Mark said...

What do FTs have to do with last nights Yankees-Rays game?

zman said...

Comments like that are why I blacked you all the way.

rob said...

i'm pretty sure that reference is gonna go waaay over mark's head.

Mark said...

yep...and this Zoltan character might not realize that TJ, Rob, Geoff and myself were commenting on the last nights NC game while it was in progress.

zman said...

Sorry. I always figured "mark" was Mayhugh.

Mark said...

Whitney likes to believe that but its not the case.

T.J. said...

They choked at the line. They were dumb not to foul. But if Rose had Hakim Warrick's arm length, Kansas loses a heartbreaker exactly as it did 5 years ago.

rob said...

he'd also be part orangutan.

Mark said...

Oh yeah, don't forget how bad a loser Calipari proved himself to be int he game's aftermath. He used phrases like "not in the stars", "unlucky" and "god's will" in describing how Memphis managed to lose the game. He gave Kansas credit, but only for taking advantage of the opportunities that Memphis gave them by doing so many things wrong.

I dont dislike Calipari as much as most but he came off horribly postgame.
