Music for the Masses

Time Magazine political journalist Lissandra Villa did us a considerable service yesterday, tweeting the following list of walkout songs chosen by the Democratic Presidential contenders that attended the Iowa Democrats Hall of Fame ceremonies yesterday.

Your opinions may vary, but my opinion of Amy Klobuchar went way up. Beto O'Rourke, punk from way back, with a strong choice, as well. Elizabeth Warren stays on brand, and appeals to a certain demographic that'll probably be important, though I don't love the song. Mayor Pete, underdog rap - also on message. Kamala Harris, I see you. And what the everlovin' fuck are you doing, Bill De Blasio?

And there's some straight-forward pabulum here, too.

Do comment below.

Did she misspell Rudie in her tweet or was that a nod to Rudy Giuliani? Can’t be. “Drinking brew for breakfast...” always a winner.

Williamson’s choice: Stevie or RHCP?

Pols take a lot of flack for the songs they choose (sometimes by the artist, as in Springsteen re: Ronnie). But I think it would be kind of fun. I’d like to be that consultant.

Also, we are supposed to believe that there is an

Adams
Adamle
Adamowski
Adamson
Adler
Anderson

And then we skip to Bueller. Hmmm.

And then we skip to Frye?????!!!!???

Come on, Mr. Hughes. I buy every single leap of faith and request for the willing suspension of disbelief in this film EXCEPT this one! No, sir. Lazy screenwriting.

The correct choice is Eastbound and Down by Jerry Reid.

Tonight was shaping up to be a hell of a game and possibly set the stage for an awesome and truly interesting finish to the Finals. Oh well.

Not quite over yet. Cousins appears to be drinking from the fountain of middle age and has given a big spark. If they can grind this out, they will have a huge home court advantage in the last game in Oracle in Game 6.

I think presidential campaigns need a music coordinator. A team of policy wonks with Yale degrees can put together awesome talking points but it takes something completely different to pick walk-up music. Shouldn't Sanders come out to Rage Against the Machine, maybe Testify or Take the Power Back? Shouldn't the former mayor of Newark have a Queen Latifah song, maybe U.N.I.T.Y. or Mama Gave Birth to the Soul Children? Swalwell should have a Tool song, that's more fitting than the tripe he selected--he's only 38! Isn't Ain't Nothin Like the Real Thing an obvious choice? Too little effort by too many candidates.

Who the hell is Williamson?

Sleepy Joe Biden could do "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go".

Ken Cuccinelli overseeing US Citizenship and Immigration Services.
My advice to anyone looking to immigrate or achieve citizenship would be . . . well, maybe don't to try to until he's gone. The horrors of your current situation may not be alleviated under the dude they call "Il Duce II."

Is anyone watching the US today?! Good Lord!! We’re pretty good!

13 goals for the US, the rest of teams combined for 25 goals after the first set of games. I know Thailand is not good but talk about no mercy.

I dropped an Il Duce today.

If Biden is selecting from the George Michael/Wham! catalog I think Father Figure would be his choice.

i think the us women's national team are a bunch of badasses who are rightfully respected and adored by their fanbase here in the u.s. i also think they went way over the top in celebrating their goals (especially after the score was 7,8,9-0) yesterday and the criticism of their lack of class is justified. i have no issue with the scoreline. it's the highest level of the game, and goal differential matters. score as much as you can. but there's no need to ham it up when you're drilling an overmatched opponent.

Or, since we're in a time of norm-bending, just go with "I Want Your Sex".

That would be sure to impress the red hat small town diner swing voters who obviously want to support a randy old white guy.

usa thailand game was a discussion today-- i've come to the conclusion that usually coach games as an educator first-- i'm a high school teacher-- so you never want a game like this . . . but this is different-- at this level, goals are hard to come by. you've chosen to play on the world stage. soccer is boring enough. i'm endorsing all the goals and celebrating. live it up. soon you'll be old and slow and your knee will hurt. score while you can. and nobody ever died from getting a bunch of goals scored on them (except andres escobar)

This 3rd period has been fun. The third goal takes some of the suspense away. A lot of it, really.

Suck it, Boston.

As an NHL head coach, Craig Berube should be using collar stays. But considering it’s Craig Berube, the lack of collar stays is on point.

I’m a sucker for a professional sports championship celebration. Love the Boston fans booing Bettman.
