Adults Suck

America at this moment is bogged down in uncertainty, wallowing in the still difficult to believe new reality of our lives. Decisions, many of them hastily-conceived and influenced by fat white guys, are being made that impact the future. I'm obviously talking about National Signing Day, and I, for one, will not sit idly by while we celebrate fax machines and scream virtually at 18 year-olds who can run, jump, block, and throw - or in the case of Baylor University, do all those things while grossly violating standards of common decency, women's rights and ostensibly Christian values. No sir, not me.

Rather, in the spirit with which this blog was founded, I'm here to offer a silly filler post that serves as a vehicle for your commenting genius. And it'll make you smile, if you like the idea of 6,500 British kids singing They Might Be Giants' Birdhouse in Your Soul.

I assume everyone watches "Seven Year Switch" on FYI. Dustin is preposterous.

Z- I use Sling TV on a lil Roku Stick. Works pretty well, but would probably frustrate you if you've had real cable before. And it may work better with a hard wired device like an Apple TV. Haven't gotten around to trying that yet. If you wanna email me I can give you my info and you can test drive it, as long as you don't keep my wife from watching HGTV.

Thanks, they have a 7 day free trial and I have a hard wired Apple TV so I'll give that a whirl. Fios has great service but I'm paying for a ton of channels I never watch.

Where does that TMBG song rank on the catchiest tunes list? Somewhere behind "My House" by Flo Rida. But not too far behind.

to Shlara's L Ron comment, I coincidentally began listening to a Joe Rogan podcast this morning w/Leah Remini - more inside stuff on the Scientology.

I used to think of Rogan as just a meat head, but his podcasts are decent. I don't subscribe to his, but will occasionally browse and download interesting episodes. He got stoned w/ Action Bronson for his interview w/ him. He also had a good one w/ James Hetfield of Metallica.

I'll tell you something you probably don't know about me Joe Rogan ... I smoke rocks!

Apparently, on today's episode of The Jump, Rachel Nichols showed a clip of our favorite NBA team music video.
She was sort of making fun, an d sort of loving it at the same time.

Just left Tsujiki Market, the world's biggest fish market. Saw some of the most amazing (and bizarre) sushi/fish I have ever seen. Very informal. You walk around and can buy tiny dishes/drinks for $1-$5 US. I had seasoned egg, a cooked scallop and veggie patty on a stick, and hot sake in a paper coffee cup, among other things. Didn't have the stones to try grilled scallop w/ sea urchin on top or jellyfish. Sea urchin is my sushi nemesis.

Sea urchin is the worst thing I have ever put in my mouth.

I like it. Just sayin.

I'm with ya, Clarence. I've probably told this story before, but in my 20's, a gf and I decided to nibble pot brownies and the go eat sushi. There was urchin included in a sushi platter. It started freaking me out. I eventually tried it, but i felt like it was licking me as I was licking it. Had to spit it into a napkin.

Happy b-day, Marls. May your day be nothing like a sea urchin. Unless it's the kind that licks you back.

rob said...

speaking of licking you back, are we at war with australia? 'cause i honestly don't know who to root for in that one.

I'm pretty jealous of TR. I've probably mentioned this here before but Japan (and specifically Tokyo) is #1 on my international travel wish list.

Hey Marls - Happy Birthday big fella.

On the topic of sushi and such, a little north of Houston and near The Woodlands is an odd little nook called Spring. Odd in a good way. For TR and other Houston travelers, there's a joint there called Q Shi...it's in an old Pizza Hut serving both both BBQ and you guessed it, sushi.

Oh, like KQ-shi and Mr. KQ-shi. The latter of which sounds like a contradiction.

Whitney said...

You people have Super Bowl plans?

Ploy to get Dave to whine about it...

Mark said...

If sitting on my couch constitutes "plans", then yes...big plans.

John McCain though!

"Those of us who took part in the conflict remember well the service of more than 50,000 Australians in the Vietnam War, including more than 500 that gave their lives."

And those of us who dodged the war because we have bad feet ...
