CBS is planning to reprise one of the great series of the modern era of television this Fall. Richard Dean Anderson isn't walking through that door, but that's not stopping this MacGyver reboot.
I'm torn, if we're being honest. I loved the original Mac. In a time when we watched what the three networks told us to watch, and we liked it, MacGyver and its belief-suspending wink and nod adventure was among the best things on television. The new version can't possibly succeed, if only because nobody watches network television any more.
But if nothing else, this news gives us a chance to celebrate Mac and his paper clip. And for that, I'm grateful.

I thought this was going to be about Clippy.
it's the first in a series
these dudes are gawfing their balls
Wasn't Burn Notice close enough to a MacGyver reboot? I'd prefer a new Scarecrow and Mrs. King. They really didn't explore the space enough with that concept. Good theme song too.
And how is Mickelson doing this? Every second shot seems to be out of the weeds.
phil's gonna rue those two shortish birdie putts he missed on the front side. rue, i say.
Stenson just pulled a Cristiano Ronaldo and showed the world his nipples. Hopefully Phil won't follow suit.
this is some epic shit, if anything in golf can be described as epic. other than the time dave gave himself a concussion before a match.
Pretty milquetoast celebration with Mrs. Stenson. The swedes may not be big on emotion.
he'll give her the swedish meatball later, though. if you know what i'm saying. because i don't.
The trophy presenter's dress shirt has a button-down collar. It almost makes one think he doesn't read this blog.
i love when my concussion match gets alluded to in g:tb british open coverage. lecompt at the springfield tonight! if anyone is near sea isle city . . .
has that story ever been told in full here? it's a doozy.
I thought MacGruber was a reboot of MacGyver?
Hans McGruber?
The MacGruber movie had more funny moments than I would've figured, but the overwhelming takeaway was dear lord, what happened to Val Kilmer?
The real question is what movie pundit Danimal thinks of MacGruber.
Global Entry just saved us from a three hour wait at BWI customs/immigration. Best 100 bucks ever spent
I'm unfamiliar with Global Entry, but she sounds wonderful.
wasn't she pip's high school girlfriend?
Straight Outta Compton is running on HBO now.
Do you think kids today understand who Ice Cube is?
Or, is he the Barbershop/Friday comedy guy to them?
Good point, Shlara. Richard Pryor was one of the revolutionaries of comedy and even entertainment overall, as important as he was hilarious. By the time people of this blog came of age, "the kids today" knew him as the guy from Superman III and Brester's Millions. But a contingent of those kids then dug deeper and found his early stand-up and learned what he meant to so many. Same will go for Cube.
what kind of kids are going to dig deep on g:tb?
Just wait until your Congressional run
i've got too many skeletons in my closet for that. my association with you chief among them.
Damn the 1988 W&M Freshman Housing staff / robots.
rob refsnyder looks...unlike the refsnyders i imagined.
I do not like this ESPN announcing group. Boone overanalyzes everything, and the woman is useless. Shulman is okay, but bland.
forget that she's a woman and listen to what she says. when they give her a chance, she knows the game.
but the overall chemistry is pretty lousy
Hey Gheorghie girls.
