Flow On

Since at least 2011 (and I think much longer than that), an anonymous Minnesotan has chronicled the state's biggest sporting event, celebrating his state's culture in a typically understated and sardonic manner. Now, thanks to the magic of the ESPN machine, flow is going big-time.

Tomorrow night, the Barry Melrose lends his voice, and more importantly, his hair, to the E:60 documentary, Minneflowta, a chronicle of hockey hair. But before Barry, there was Pulltabproductions, and now Game On! Minnesota, celebrating the best salads in the Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament.

Picture the Indiana State High School Basketball Tournament with all manner of mullets, mustaches, and pompadours, and you've got an inkling of the Land of 10,000 Lakes' annual celebration of their game. If you've got time, go to the first link above and check out the last several years' worth of all-tournament hockey hair teams. But if you've only got 8 minutes, dig on this:

We have a guy at work who carves three parallel stripes into random patches of hair. Sometimes it's the eyebrows. Today he has two sets opposite each other where the bottom of his hairline meets his neck. Not sure if that's hockey hair or something else.

TR--glad you're enjoying DS+M. It's definitely not something to listen to while the kids are in earshot. Should have added that disclaimer.

And, this baseball fight is un-real.
I wonder if Manfred will react like Stern did for the Palace brawl...

Just had lunch with my old intern, a young whippersnapper who graduated early from W&M in December with a 4.0 or darn close to it. We have tons in common.

The latest tidbits around campus:

- The stadium expansions have begun. More empty seats being created.
- Morton is going to be torn down. Many a class I took there, only to then not show up for it.
- Dupont will no longer be a freshman dorm. They have turned old fraternity row into freshman housing, and Dupont is now for upperclassmen.
- Commencement speaker and USWNT coach Jill Ellis '88 proudly confessed that she "barfed in Dupont" during her speech. Awesome.

That's all for now.

I can't remember the last time I was as excited for a playoff series as I am for this Western Conference finals. And I love Marvelous doing play-by-play.

Russell Westbrook is a beast. Unbelievable 3rd quarter. I never would've guessed it would be he and Adams getting beaten up to start the series, but both are tough as hell.

What TR said
Adams and Russ won that game

G:TB poppin off today!

Saw my first Tesla X in the flesh today. It's nowhere near as beautiful as the S, instead it looks like an over-inflated Honda CRX. I'm sure it will be wildly popular regardless.

I'm surprised you guys aren't commenting on the penis transplant story.

I saw that Dicken Ko performed it, considered making a juvenile joke, decided against it, and let the whole thing pass by unsaid.

That said, there's a lot to say.
