Tell your mother tell your father send a telegram, Phife Dawg left us with one more bangin jam

As you may have read previously, Phife was working on a new album at the time of his death. I don't know if it will ever be released in its entirety, but the single "Nutshell" appeared on the internet yesterday. It features a beat by J Dilla, who died over 10 years ago. That my favorite hiphop song of 2016 features the work of two dead artists probably says something about the evolution (or lack of evolution) of my musical tastes. I think the brief interviews framing the song were recorded at a memorial event, while the "thank you" notes at the end were written by Phife. Here it is.

w&m folks should pour some more out for the last of the lodges, which will be demolished this summer to make way for a new integrated wellness center. that's a bummer.

I lived in Lodge 10 junior year. It was the furthest thing from a wellness center that I can think of.

May the original outlaw Merle Haggard rest in some sort of peace. They tell me I look like Merle Haggard, but I sound a lot like David Allan Coe.

wait, what?
they are destroying the lodges???
I loved living in a lodge junior year
that really sucks

are they providing actual health care services in the redic new wellness center?
they couldn't tear down the old health center and build it there?

I thought it was looks like Lincoln and sounds like Springsteen, or the other way around.

i have been listening to hip-hop before the kids get home from school. kendrick lamar's pimp a butterfly and kanye west life of pablo. i definitely like all the "extras" in modern hip-hop-- the background jazz ensembles and gospel samples and all that, but the lyrics are not suitable for anyone, especially middle class white people

Whitney, I'll be in Norfolk briefly tomorrow. My jug band is playing an event at the Va Arts Festival building. Not sure what's around there, but let me know if you may be around to meetup in that area around 4 or 4:30.
