I had a feeling this teacher would be up to no good. Look at her height:

Happy Birthday, Shlara!

zman said...

I really hope the bills don't get Sanchez now.

Danimal said...

Met Sam Jones today in church.. of the Boston Celtics.

rob said...

you go to the church of the boston celtics? parquet cross, red auerbach relics, green vestments? that sounds like a cool place.

rob said...

so much cooler than mark's church of the orlando magic.

Danimal said...

Rob with a funny!
Happy birthday Shlara!

zman said...

Disciples of Clyde ...

Mark said...

The Church of the Magic can't compare. The stations of bad first round draft picks is a bummer and Brian Hill gives some pretty uninspiring sermons.

Shlara said...

Today's unplanned Bday activity is a trip to urgent care for some stitches after a run-in with a soup can. Good times.

Mark said...

Ouch. Happy Birthday though!

Danimal said...

Dagger. Still better than TR's night yesterday though, so you got that going for you.

"Bye bye poopy!" Our 2 year old as she flushes.

Shlara said...

Apparently they use glue now, not stitches
But they still give tetanus shots...

zman said...

Tell them it's your birthday and maybe they'll let you sniff the glue.

i still really can't wrap my head around that call. i understand the rule as it's written. i also understand that it needs to be rewritten.

Danimal said...

Long to Pereira (paraphrasing): he had the ball and took 3 steps.
Pereira: forget the # of steps...2 steps, 3 steps....it doesn't matter.

So....if he takes 5 steps, falls, and loses possession when the ball hits the ground it is an incompletion. Right. Of course it is.

Danimal said...

And having Pereira comment on the integrity of the calls is like: (fill in blank)

zman said...

No, not if he made a football move during or after the second step. No idea what that means though. Running isn't a football move I guess. I have no moves (the ladies of W&M can attest to that) so I have no worthwhile opinions on this matter.

Mark said...

That's what doesn't make sense to me. Running isn't a "football move"? How about extending the ball toward the goal line?

Bad call. Worse rule.

Clarence said...

"Dez Bryant needed to make an act common to the game." This verbiage has no business in a football ruling or any other conversation. Meaningless.

Clarence said...

Pity it happened to the Dallas Cowboys.

zman said...

Running is so uncommon an act in football that they have a position called running back. Wait, that cuts the wrong way ...

zman said...

"An act common to the game" might belong in a conversation about The Wire.

zman said...

zson digs Sade. Who knew?

Whitney said...

He is a smooth operator.

Danimal said...

Coast to coast
L.A. To Chicago.

Mark said...

Luck has been as impressive as Manning has been disappointing so far.

zman said...

Manning looks shook.

Marls said...

Chicken parm don't taste sooooooo good.

rob said...

anyone else getting redirected constantly from gtb to ad sites?

annoyed robot

zman said...

Yes. Mostly to downton abbey ads.

Shlara said...

Yes--I'm getting redirected too!
It's that the whole point of the robot sign in?

And, who's watching the Golden Globes?
I didn't know that TJ is an Icelandic movie director on the side

Shlara said...

Oh, sorry--TJ is a music composer, not a director, on the side

AKA Johan Johansson

Mark said...

The redirect was happening to me on my phone last night. I couldn't get to GTB without being redirected. All good today though.

Marls said...

I was getting redirected to the good housekeeping sight. Weerd.

BTW, happy birthday Shlara.

How is naming your child John Johnson acceptable, even in Iceland?

rob said...

amy adams. she's my favorite.

Marls said...

Kate Hudson's nose!?!?

rob said...

jared leto's tux. wish i could pull that off. kevin hart's, too.

Marls said...

After pulling them off will you be naked too or just taking in the sights?

rob said...

i'll be watching the two of them go at it with margaret cho.

rob said...

sorry. nobody should have that mental picture. my bad.

rob said...

g:tb made the major news media today. got a shoutout in the flat hat, the newspaper of record for the college of william and mary.

TR said...

I went to high school with a John Johnson. He's a chef and a LinkedIn connection, so you all can get some of that action if you want.

TR said...

I'll say it. I watched the first half of Boyhood on a flight. I stopped watching. It got heavy and I wasn't digging the sadness. And it wasn't b/c I was on a flight.

TR said...

And Ethan Hawke's career has been all downhill since Explorers.

zman said...

So you're all watching the golden globes instead of downton and girls (on dvr).

Marls said...

Why is everybody so sweaty? Did the AC at the Beverly Hilton crap out?

Shlara said...

That's exactly right Malrs--VF just tweeted it

zman said...

Malrs. Like a walrus with an NY accent.

Shlara said...

To deal with the extreme cold, dry weather, I have two humidifiers cranked up in my house. It's like a terrarium in here

Marls said...

Put on a ball gown with a plunging neck line and you could hand out some awards in that terrarium.

Oprah was the only one not sweating. She only sweats when Steadman gets his groove on.
