I always liked Mr. Smith's okay -- they usually had some unknown band that was worth the $5 cover. Important to have to non-snooty places in G'town. Girls were always a little friendlier there, or so it seemed when I was drunk.
Oh, but the Tysons one was lame. Like a friggin Ruby Tuesday or something. Although we had fun there once when we stole the fishbowl of business cards and left voice messages for 40 people saying they got free lunch at Mr. Smith's. You can imagine our surprise when one gentleman was still at work and picked up the phone!!! LOL
But seriously, Geoff, I understand the umbrage. It was like a daggone TGI Friday's. You go ahead and rail away.
Interested on TJ & Danimal's take on ND QB being arrested on assault on a police officer charges last night. He went full MMA & kneed the cop in the stomach. That's a bit aggressive.
you virginyins oughta entertain the idea of heading over/up to winchester this wkd for a little bit of the apple blossom.... www.thebloom.com...get yourself some! the celeb depth is a bit shallow this year, but for you "Saved by the Bell" fans...got your attention now do i? hmmm hmmm? danny? can you say AC Slater as in...Mario Lopez? yeahthatsright bitches. and if you're a fan of driving fast and turning left...rusty wallace! hello!! and who up there in nova is your favorite sportscaster? if you said ken mease which i'm sure you did...he too will be heading down Route 50, or 66 to 81, or even Route 7...to take part in the finest festival on earth. have fun and tell 'em the danimal sent ya!
Interested in Rob's (and others') take on ODU being courted by Conference USA. The DLC says ODU is taking steps to make this happen. Is the CAA nearing decimation?
well, am glad it's the turnover machine, tommy rees...that's not going to help his cause in the qb race which at least until yesterday included 4 qb's...
off-season alcohol-related incidents are a yearly occurrence there...there will be a few more by the time the season begins. fighting irish might be a term you twerps scoff at...for us, it's a code, a way of life.
odu has long harbored a desire to move up to d-1 football. i think it's dumb, at least from a financial sense, but it doesn't surprise me that they'd be looking to jump during a period of caa uncertainty. my sense is that they're as good as gone. the bigger question in terms of caa viability is what happens to mason and vcu. right now, i'm actually optimistic about those two schools staying right now - mgl did a great piece on it yesterday. but if they leave, w&m will be in a new league by 2013.
On the topic of ND, I heard from a connected alum I work with that Aaron Lynch, the D-lineman who transferred to USF to "be closer to home", actually transferred b/c he "wasn't going to class".
Just a rumor, but word is that the Irish takes its edukayshun seriously.
Does USF stand for University of Super Fuck-Ups or is that USFU.
And if you know who John Peel is then you got to check out the new Spaces website. They just started making available his vinyl collection. It's a huge time suck but you'll learn a metric ton about music. Some of the records have direct links back to Spotify for your listening pleasure.
The worst part about USF is that it's located in Tampa. Which is very much west Florida. Not even close to being in South Florida. Then again, Florida Southern is located in Lakeland which is smack dab in between Tampa & Orlando.
The Lynch rumor sounds like sour grapes to me. Not that ND alums would ever lie about a former player to make their university look better. Nope. Not them.
in jaguars news, free agent and asian placekicker LONG DING has been invited to camp to give it a go! DING comes from the powerhouse that is Norwich. In Vermont. Go JAGS!
ND Haters....they are so abundant. ND blogosphere had a story or two about his homesickness....pussy. his mom was on the twitter machine though i guess enlisting support from nd alum to try to persuade him to stay, stressing the education you can get at ND versus other institutions that big aaron was looking at. i'm saying both his slackerness & homesickness played a part. either way, good riddance. he's either a pussy and or a slacker - he'll be better suited at usf, or any other florida institution for that matter.
i guess it depends on what one's definition of tough is. but yeah, i think if you go to a school like vandy, duke, the military academies, ND and a few others, schools where you really do have to go to class and make the grades while playing your respective sport...if you get through that, well to me you are deemed tough. whether you're the 5'10 180 lb placekicker or 4th string shortstop...that person's a stud in my book.
Will Perdue ( like the chicken, not the school) is the greatest player to ever come out of the conference my high school plays in. Slim pickings, I know. And I worked his summer basketball camp in college. So I have a soft spot for Vanderbilt's finest.

Give me a fucking break. That was adorable watching poor, naive Shep Smith lose his innocence live on the air.
rob agrees with you.
wait, geoff is taking umbrage to a post on a blog dedicated to relentless stupidity? do republicans ever take a break from fake outrage?
My umbrage is directed at Mr. Smith. I have no gripe with you posting and bringing attention to this.

Nice to see ND players finally acting like elite college athletes again.

appreciate the clarification, geoff. our relentless stupidity will continue unabated. case in point, igor.
Danimal, you had me at AC Slater, but you need to remind even Apple Blossom veterans like myself a little earlier.
Danimal...the last time Ken Mease was on the air in DC, Rob was still a virgin.

i would LOVE to say the face-to-face that will take place today between brian kelly & tommy boy... i do not envy that young man.
see...not say...
don't be hating on ken mease...the guy is a legend. like rob.

it's always weird when that 12 year old girl inside igor's head reveals herself. sort of like that wonderful television program "hermann's head."
NY Post had an article today saying Mason and VCU will go to the A-10.
And for how long did ODU want to be a D-1 football program? Hasn't their program only been in existence for a couple years?

Yes, TR, by "long harbored a desire," Rob means for at least a year or so, maybe even two. They're been playing football for three.
Not "long harbored a desire" like most guys yearning over many years for a threesome.
And yes, Dave, those are the thoughts roaming around my head. You should see the ones that don't make it into the blogosphere.

That's a really good point, Dan. Notre Dame is renowned for its long line of tough SOBs.
looks like charlotte to cusa - the dominoes, they are falling

there probably aren't 4th string shortstops though are there? that's probably the scorekeeper.
Jay Cutler = stud, Danimal style
don't forget rudy.
Will Purdue.
Big burly badass looking guy down the bar from me is eating a very healthy looking salad. Hmmm.
Washing it down with a Mickey's Big Mouth. Fuck yeah.
Forgot to add that Shep Smith is very cool dude. And not just because got high with a friend of mine at a party (although that helps a lot).
Will Perdue ( like the chicken, not the school) is the greatest player to ever come out of the conference my high school plays in. Slim pickings, I know. And I worked his summer basketball camp in college. So I have a soft spot for Vanderbilt's finest.
No comments on Rivera. I'm shocked.
i like the riviera's nude beaches. other than that, kinda ambivalent.
adam yauch is dead at 47. fuck.
What? How?
He and Seau in the same week. Who's the third going to be?
just read the old hunter thompson piece on the derby which is on grantland. if you have not done so, do so.
I'm really sad about Adam Yauch. Cancer sucks.
yikes. i don't come to gheorghe for news like this.
i suppose i should write a tribute to my favorite album of all time: paul's boutique.
