Shitty Anniversary

Two years ago tonight I was sitting in a sparsely-populated hotel bar in Austin, TX. SXSW had been cancelled days prior, but most of the customers I met that week didn't seem all that concerned about the virus that had begun infecting increasing numbers of people around the world. I watched this happen from a barstool:

It is profoundly amazing to me that two years later we may be done with the pandemic, but it's not done with us. And its echoes will be profound.

In other news, I coached my first varsity tennis practice today. Who says an old dog can't learn new tricks?

I saw the clip from the cancellation of the Jazz game today and it was quite the reminder of all that’s happened over the past two years. I HOPE we’re truly getting back to normal, though I doubt normal will ever be the same again. The pandemic fundamentally changed and divided our society in so many ways.

In other waaay less heavy news- Nats-Cardinals in DC? Count me in, Teej. Is this the summer I rediscover my love of baseball? Highly doubtful. But I’ll go watch some games.

Speaking of ivory 3-Wheelers:

A 9-year-old car with 526 miles likely isn't much fun to drive.

I’m not a fan of yellow but these Iowa uniforms are dope.

Also, we have to figure out how to change the charge/block rule. Refs love calling charges and so many of them are absolute horseshit. It’s significantly impacting the game in a negative way.

Speaking of horseshit. Iowa wins on some garbage.

My sister and niece are in Texas touring colleges (texas, Baylor, tcu, smu). They did tcu today. The AAC semifinals are in Fort Worth today. They bought tickets to the AAC semifinals for $3 and are 5 rows from court side.
