College 20 Year Reunions Mean Custom Coozies

Clarence mentioned it was time to return to our regular dipshittery (though NY and NJ guys please keep us apprised of home things are going) so I am pasting below two images texted to me by GTBer Shlara from the 20th reunion of some of our chums at Pantsless Griffin HQ a weekend ago.

I must say, tiny dictator looks good in that outfit:

my parents have power! but my town is a wreck -- lots of downed trees, power lines, flooding, etc. no school again today . . . i'm going to kill my kids soon. we are trying to eat all our food before it spoils, but luckily/ unluckily it is supposed to get cold tonight and our thermostat is electric so we can't turn on the heat. but we do have hot water and a gas stove, so we are thankful for those amenities. lots of town togetherness and imbibing have helped pass the time . . .

how far up did the raritan come into the park, dave?

Danimal said...

T.J. said...

Will be on Orlando Nov. 8-12...

Clarence said...

I remember rocking out with the Teej in downtown Disney in 2008...

T.J. said...

it was a good time...

Mark said...

It's looking like I'll be visiting Teej that weekend. Still trying to work out the details (aka trying to convince the wife to ditch the kid for the night so we can stay over in Orlando, get drunk and allow the wives to meet).

T.J. said...

oooh I like this plan...

T.J. said...

if (when) we do meet up, um, perhaps you bring over some Ichiro...yes...

Clarence said...

Goofy never looked so goofy.

Mark said...

I think I can manage that.

Somehow, I convinced my wife to go as Joakim Noah for Halloween.

It's a long story, but she noticed him last year and remarked that he wears his hair the same during games as she wears her hair when she's laying around the house. I happen to have a Noah t-shirt jersey. And just like that, we have a Halloween costume. So to sum it up, I'm not dressing up but my wife is Joakim Noah and my infant is Star Wars era Princess Leia.

zman said...

You didn't get that boba fett beanie?

rob said...

please tell me you've seen the dewar's ad with the pretty lady with a scots accent.

Mark said...

I should've, Z. Not even for Halloween, just in general.

And we're back from two hours of trick or treating with a bunch of parents and 7 10-11 year old girls. Halloween always makes me wistful. Not for the Halloweens of my youth but for Halloween in college. Easily one of the best nights of the college experience year-in year-out. So much booze, drugs, parties and girls dressed like sluts.

james harden got a max deal? i like him a lot, but a max deal?

Clarence said...

To Mark's point, my favorite costumes were in the get-hammered-for-Halloween era of 19 until 24:

- a cow
- Lenny (to Dave's Squiggy)
- Kramer
- Letterman (the Electric Company superhero, not David)

Marls said...

Yes Rob, that's why he was traded.

rob said...

get off my lawn, marls

Mark said...

I'm okay with Harden getting the max. Houston needed a star and this was the only way they were getting one. He's still very young (under 25) and has growth left as a player. Not just a scorer either. People underestimate his playmaking ability.

I'd certainly rather pay him max money than a one dimensional guy like Rashard Lewis or an aging brittle big man like Amare Stoudemire.

Jerry said...

Max is kind of a loaded term because the limits on individual salary are so low (relatively). On the open market, LeBron or Durant would get way, way over the max, even with the team salary cap. So it basically means that there are probably 20-30 "max worthy" players in the league.

Free preview week means we get to see Kyle Singler play NBA basketball.

Jerry said...

Harden is going nuts tonight.

Jerry said...

Are Houston and Detroit actually decent to watch now or is it just that I haven't seen an NBA game in a while?

T.J. said...

Harden has 34 and 10? How u, Sam Presti

Mark said...

The Hornets might not be awful this year if Eric Gordon can get healthy. They're athletic, young and have good size up front.

Anthony Davis will be an All Star next year. And Greivis Vazquez plays waaay too much.

T.J. said...

Hornets picked up Vasquez's option year, right? NBA confuses me

zman said...

What did rob do to warrant his own coozie?

T.J. said...

NOT bang Cricket?

T.J. said...

Free NBA League Pass for a week might legitimately get me to but full-season League Pass.

T.J. said...

DeMarr DeRozan also just got overpaid. Taj Gibson, I guess, kinda overpaid.

TR said...

F Zman for living 2 blocks away and getting power. I just drove 50 miles into NY state to fill 11.5 gallons of gas cans to get my generator thru another 48 hrs. Will do the same run Fri nite if we are still out. Brutal juice in NJ.

T.J. said...

Chris Duhon getting abused by Damian Lillard right now. This is fun.

Jerry said...

Duhon has never recovered from when Slater thought he was a bartender.

Dave said...

the raritan surged all the way through the park and up the hill that i live on. we had power for forty-five minutes last night and then it vanished, but quite a few people in town have power again. maybe we will get it soon.

my friend is bringing over a chainsaw today so we can get to work on the fallen stuff. if i lose an arm, i'm switching from "sentence of dave" to "word of dave."

Dave said...

TR is complaining and he has a generator? all us folks roughing it really look down on the "generator people."

Dave said...

in fact, i may drive up to chatham and siphon TR's gas from his generator, just so i have enough gas to drive back to HP. could be the plot of "Smokey and the Bandit IV."

Clarence said...

Only if he uses Coors to fuel his generator. It's more of a Mad Max sequel. Beyond Chunderdome.

zman said...

Brian Knapp is the generator.

/jokeforthreeatmost

T.J. said...

Shlara, did you mean to drop David West in the NBA league?

If so, you might be a worse GM than Ernie.

mayhugh said...

Did you hear the Lakers are 0-2? Worst team ever. They shouldn't even finish out the season.

T.J. said...

Aqib Talib traded to the Patriots, eh?

Mark said...

He's immediately their best corner. Once he's done with his Adderrall suspension. Not that surprising. He's not Schiano's kind of guy. I was actually surprised they didn't try and dump him this offseason.

Shlara said...

TJ--I told you that I'm clueless with this Y! system. Trying to set my active roster and couldn't figure out how move players around so was trying to delete and then re-add. I'm technologically challenged.

zman said...

Danimal could start in the pats secondary at this pOint.

Mark said...

Is Shlara much older than I suspected? She sounds like my Mom trying to figure out a new website.

rob said...

she's a hip, hip lady. like martha washington.

Danimal said...

Thank you?

zman said...

Shlara packs bowls?

zman said...

Twas a compliment of sorts Danimal. You are clearly the most athletic member of the Gheorghosphere.

Squeaky said...

So I know part of the FOG:TB are without power and it's the last thing on their minds but what's up with Movember? I got some charity money burning a hole in my pocket. Outside of donation to NY/NJ made earlier today.

Mark said...

My ego resents your comment, Z.

zman said...

TR and I just said that Sandy's silver lining is a head start on Movember.

Mark -- do a triathlon and then you can start for Belichick too.

Mark said...

As Kenny Powers once said, 'Im not trying to be the best at exercising.'

Jerry said...

Wow - Popovich is in post-season interview form already. If the clip is on line tomorrow it's worth a watch.
