Summer's Over, But We Don't Care

Running over some old ground here, but with a ridiculous addition.

Les Coole and the Cukes have been quiet lately, but the side project The Adliberators -- well, now... we've been pretty quiet, too. We have two official singles to our name, with two more in development.

But with audio giving way to video since 1979, that's the trend we're finally catching up with in 2023!

As we preface it:

Some of you have had the unique pleasure of meeting our old acquaintance Baja Benny, and many more of you have simply seen him roaming around the shores of Sandbridge and the North End of Virginia Beach - or any beach near you, possibly. Good ol’ Benny. His career pathway has had many twists and turns… surfer, scientist, entrepreneur, artist, musician, bartender, barfly, beachcomber, burnout, sage, historian, legend.

The Adliberators caught up with him recently to profile him in our first music video. Just a day in the life of Baja Benny. Take a peek. And the next time you’re paying for beach parking and see that familiar face, throw him a smile.

And maybe a cold one.

Summer's Here! Right in time for autumn. Enjoy the ridiculousness...

Old 97's at the 9:30 Club tonight. I'm sure you DC types already have tix.

I'll be seeing them in Va Beach tomorrow night...

The Marlsette opted for Peter Gabriel over Old 97’s. Damn shame.

If any of youse want to trek it to the star city next Friday 9/29, I've got a couple extra tickets for Lee Fields and the Expressions.

Marls, I love PG and would really love to see a show from that guy, but not this tour.

22 songs over 1:45. Not terrible. But 11 (!) are from the new album.

2 of the old-old tunes, 5 from So, and 4 from albums after that. I'll wait and hope he does a tour where he dredges some old goodies. Seems like a future music post could come from this.

I'll let you know if the 97's play "Niteclub" for you tomorrow night.

I will say that the closer for the Peter Gabriel set seems pretty boss. And I'd like to see whom he gets to sing "Don't Give Up" with him. Great tune.

Lee Fields!! Plainfield's finest.

our man john fetterman is in the center of a uniquely washington kerfuffle at the moment. the senate recently loosened its dress code rules, and numerous republicans and joe manchin have expressed (faux) outrage that the rules have been bent to enable fetterman's slovenliness. it's a thing. in response, the lovable galoot issued a press statement that read in part, "If those jagoffs in the House stop trying to shut our government down, and fully support Ukraine, then I will save democracy by wearing a suit on the Senate floor next week."

national treasure, that slob.

It’s the US Senate. Put on a fucking suit. Respect the office.

Also, we don’t need the likes of MTG wearing cutoffs and a Margaritaville tank top while ripping lung darts on the house floor.

that is an 80s-quality video! nicely done

marls is still pissed he had to wear a tie to high school.

Marls wears a powdered wig and breeches to the office.

bears defensive coordinator alan williams (w&m '91) has resigned under a cloud of suspicion. news reports hint that he's involved in something really bad.

this clip of chris russo talking about his plans for the weekend (hint: they involve gummies and colorado football) and marcus spears' reaction thereto is amaaaaaazing.

Fact that Alan Williams is 53 is yet another thump upside my head that I'm old. He had pretty fair career at W&M and played with couple other quality RBs, but I thought he should have had more run.

Jealous, Danimal. Wore out a couple Southside Johnny albums back in the day. I believe Springsteen wrote in liner notes on one disc that Johnny was one of few white guys he could listen to do soul and R&B.

avengers: endgame has entered the category of movies i’ll stop and watch if i see them on the teevee listings. got a long way to go to get to dumb n dumber or tombstone level, but i dig it.
