Adjusting to that work from home life

It's been, what, 13 or 14 weeks since we've been working from home? That's a long fucking time.

I imagine folks have been adjusting along the way, making minor tweaks and improvements to the WFH situation in order to prevent the entirety of your soul being drained from your body each and every day as you drag your carcass from bed to shower to desk (or table...or TV tray). This is really just a depressing, long-winded way of saying I don't know why it took me until yesterday to spice up my WFH situation with these wonderful additions:

My kids just saw Malin Akerman’s tits. Nice of IFC to show that at 1045 AM.

The boys didn’t seem to mind.

Busier than I want, but 10 minutes for Guy/JB mashin up is well worth it!

Tried to intermingle Mr. Dynamite with how Guy says, "that's dynamite, my man," but it weren't happenin

Like Jimmie Walker I'm dynamite!

Someone should make a supercut of close up shots of Guy Fieri eating, paired with a soundtrack of James Brown's vocal exhortations. Someone probably already has.

I couldn't find that, but holy shit, I did find this:

That's amazing.

Whoa

So Teej, do you have plans to add to your collection? I think I'd have my eye on Angus Young, Bob Ross, Jackie Kennedy, and Purple Rain Prince.

TR said...

I am the proud owner of a Bob Ross desk figurine. Twist a dial to hear a couple catchphrases.

T.J. said...

I've got the talking Bob Ross on my desk at work, but I sure as fuck ain't going to get it.

It will come as no surprise that I also have some great Funkos at work, but yes Whit, I will be adding to the work from home collection as well. Magnum P.I. and Eazy-E were in the "others receiving votes" category this time around.

I am enjoying the Drudge Report‘s Trump trolling. Everything else I see l on that site makes me queasy and drives me to drink, but the Trump trolling is fun.

T.J. said...

Oh yeah, I laughed my ass off when I saw the Rick Allen funko

Dave said...

who is trolling trump on the drudge report?

also, those funko things are false idols and you will all burn in hell for worshipping them.

did i tell you guys to watch the movie "crawl"? streaming on amazon. a sports-themed version of "jaws," except with alligators. really fun and only kind of dumb, with good acting and effects. the kids and i loved it.

So long as we are shifting from Trump-trolling to Bible-waving to movie recs, I watched The Tao of Steve last night for the first time in a very long while. Low-budget light fare, and I have always found it highly enjoyable. Take it in again... if you can.

I quoted it to m'lady who gave me a blank stare and piqued my interest, then I couldn't find it streamable anywhere, then Amazon-primed a $5 DVD, then watched, yes, ladies and gents, a digital video disc!

I'd say it was the first time in years, but the Music Docs project has had a couple of entries that are like many older men, which is to say there is little to no stream. So I plugged in the old Blu-Ray player after some major dusting off.

T.J. said...

Whit, stop fucking your old Blu-Ray player

rootsminer said...

I've got a nice package I'm looking to stuff into a VHS player. Anyone got one still? Mine died awhile back, but I'm keeping the tapes.

I've got a version of Yellow Submarine that's way longer than any of the available digital versions. I used it to chill out my children for two hours when they were younger, and they were just fondly recalling it the other day.

rootsminer said...

To put that more succinctly, and echo Teej's tone: I've got a long yellow submarine that's itching to slide into an analog home video device. Oooh yeah.

we subscribed the new york times yesterday! digitally. erudite and cultured. inspired by watching season five of the wire. my kids actually like doing the crossword on their phones-- doing crosswords now is way better than before. you can check the puzzle, cheat, compete with your friends for time, zoom in.

I'm actually enjoying browsing around the entire paper, instead of getting blocked from articles.

my friend ann wants to make an entire reality show about the objects that men stick their dick in. ith ought it was a stupid idea, but this thread is making me change my mind.

TR said...

Episode 1 would be vacuum cleaners, right? Asking for Marls.

Re: rob’s earlier judgement, I’ll paraphrase a presidential bumper sticker I imagined earlier today: GTB 2020 -did you really expect better from these fuggin’ guys?

Whitney said...

rob can get on his high pony and act like he hasn’t giggled multiple times whilst reading these comments, but if he does he’s full of bologna

Whitney said...

And when we bury Dave, I will use this following passage as the “if you never knew the man, let me sum him up in a few of his own words”:

doing crosswords now is way better than before. you can check the puzzle, cheat, compete with your friends for time, zoom in.

Whitney said...

And Episode 2: cantaloupe.

Or at least so says Squeaky.

rob said...

hell, i'm still giggling.

episode three almost certainly has to be: 'bag of scallops'. as far as dave's concerned.

rob said...

bunch of kids from my town, including my daughter's boyfriend, spent last week in myrtle beach. one by one, they're now testing positive for covid-19. he hasn't yet, but it won't surprise me if he does. i was young once, and had a blast at beach week, so i'm not here to lecture. but we're in for a long, stupid, completely unnecessary haul because we can't sacrifice for even a few months.

zman said...

Dave has a seafood fetish? Or just a mollusk fetish?

"I'm actually enjoying browsing around the entire paper" is peak Dave, he's surprised that getting access to 100 years of NYT articles is enjoyable.

The Magnum PI funko is the manliest funko.

Episode four is "I stuck my dork in Mrs. Roark" followed by "I stuck my bologna in Mrs. Mazzoni" and then "I stuck my pecker in Mrs. Spector."
