Stupid Human Tricks

Courtesy of the most accomplished rugger in the G:TB family (with apologies to Whitney and TR, if only to be polite), here's a bit of Rugby World Cup color*.

As the first comment below the video pithily notes, ook maar lekker dom ne.

* It's possible that this isn't from the 2019 Rugby World Cup. Nevertheless, our editors have deemed it representative.

blending comment threads to note that the kristofferson stuff was really cool. i did not know his back story at all. pretty damn ballsy to punt his safe path to chase his dream. and the dylan/cash stuff was amazing, as well.

If I lived in the DC area and had high school age daughters I would take them to see The Regrettes at the 9:30 Club on Tuesday October 1. Just my two cents. Their new album isn't as good as the first but it's still good.

Z, are you familiar with The Teskey Brothers? I’ve been listening to their last two albums over the past few months and they seem Zish.

hoo boy, sure looks like the impeachment dam has broken. this is gonna be a shitshow. 'course, it already is a shitshow, so, y'know, not much will change.

RIP Robert Hunter, who wrote many of the Dead's best lyrics. Such a long, long time to be gone and a short time to be there.

I am not familiar with the Teskey Brothers but I will change that over the next few days.

If I was a goofy energy analyst who overcame a fear of public speaking to regularly appear on TV, I would let people know when I was going to be on TV.

Watching episode 4 of Country Music. So good. I would pay a decent amount of money for a big framed version of one of those photos of Johnny Cash and Elvis.

Last year I attended an event in the Williamsburg Lodge. I was walking out through a part of the building that had some other event going on with a silent auction. A nice lady encouraged me to take a look at the offerings. I was sure it would be nothing I needed or wanted. I was half wrong. They had a 12 x 18” framed picture of Johnny Cash and Elvis with arms around each other and autographs. Below it said the Man in Black and the King, and it had a quote about walking a mile in a man’s shoes. Very cool. I threw a bid on it and walked out. Got a call later that week that I’d won it. It’s cooler than I had remembered.

our fiji love looking a little wobbly now, as they fell to uruguay, 30-27, to drop to 0-2 on the tournament. guess they wanna play b-side.

Never underestimate the passion of Montevideo.

on the plus side, our children can say they lived through one of the most important historical eras in american history. might be the last era of american history, but still, important.

Arguing that "there is no quid pro quo" in that summary is like Bill Clinton asserting "I did not have sex with that woman." As my torts professor used to say "you can think that if you want but you'd be wrong."

rob said...

mark's jorts professor said something similar

And by 'most important historical era in american history', you mean the Belichick and Brady era right ...

Mr. KQ, I'll confess to having bailed before the keg.

Are we worried about CTE from this pastime? Shellshock?
