As a public service to the G:TB community, here's an open thread for chronicling your Revenant-like struggles with the impending doomstorm.
And a picture of an old friend.
Dedicated to the premise that life would be better if we all took ourselves a little less seriously.

my company just made an investment in a small company here in the dc area. i've been chosen to sit on the board of directors of the company. i'm a fucking titan of industry.
Cocaine Bear!! I missed that guy.
Can I buy stock in said company so I can file a derivative action against you for breach of fiduciary duty?
d&o insurance, baby. do your worst.
rob is clothed in immense power. I assume this company manufactures limbo sticks?
sounds kind of kinky rob. didn't know you were down with that sort of thing.
i contain multitudes, danimal
dc folks, there's a groupon right now for tix to see weezer and panic at the disco at jiffy lube live in june. get some.
snow update. all surfaces here covered. local authorities saying to get where you're going to stay for the next 48 hours by 3:00. panicdoom.
I once confused Panic at the Disco with TV On the Radio. They are not the same.
better get to Camelot soon then guys & gals.
a pack of polar bears and three yeti just traipsed through my yard. this storm is the real deal.
yahoo is reporting that the cavs have fired david blatt. whoa.
You all snowed in yet? I bummed we are not getting more snow.
i don't think the heavy stuff is gonna come down for quite a while, squeak.
I love old people but they shouldn't go near 2 lane traffic circles.
poll: do you shovel snow multiple times during a storm, or just wait for the big pile and do it once?
It its more than 6-9 inches then I go shovel in the middle of the storm. It's imperative to clean the cars off mid-storm otherwise they will ice up and be really hard to clean.
I got 30 inches overnight in Boston once and you simply can't shovel all that at the end of the storm. Plus I had street parking and the plows will entomb your car if you don't shovel them out periodically
If the snow is light and fluffy I leave it until the end of the storm. Otherwise I shovel at the midpoint of the storm. If you don't have a garage make sure your wiper blades are up. It makes it a whole easier to clean your windshield.
no need to shovel. it's going to be 46 degrees tuesday. i'm going to wait it out.
We're on Disney property. At the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique to be exact. This place is absolutely ridiculous.
Pray for my bank account over the next 24 hours.
gonna be a high of 40 and windy as a mofo tomorrow. flag football game at 10. ground game will be key. to date, we've outscored the opponents 63-0. you guys should come down to a game, i'll get you tickets.
mixed a martini with sweet vermouth on accident. not great but throwing out a few ounces of Hendricks isn't in the cards.
will be coming in hot to Orlando on Tuesday mark for the year's annual sausage hang that is the pga show.
hendrick's is so choice
Liquor store and gas stations are packed. People driving a little panicky/squirrelly already.
Disney is going to (relatively) cold as hell tomorrow. High of 50 and very windy. I knew I should've packed my flask.
Never been to the PGA show. Have attended the surf expo in Orlando a few times.
surf expo must be rife w/ganja. sign me up for that one.
Thank god Steve Kerr is back tonight. Otherwise the coaches of the #1 team in the east and the west would be younger than me.
hola gheorghies (it's 2am here and i can't fucking sleep)
It's fun. Glad we slept from 9 to midnight. Also bets on if we get home?
Rick Carlisle, president of nba coach's assoc, on Blatt firing:
"I'm embarrassed for our league that something like this can happen like this," Carlisle said. "It's just bizarre. ... It just leaves you with a bit of an empty feeling, because Blatt's a great guy and he did a great job there."
1. I would love to go to the PGA expo and the surfing expo, even if they are in Orlando.
2. I will not be commenting on the pro basketball moves today
3. TJ & Jess--you guys will be stuck there for a week--enjoy the UK
4. Rob, don't judge me--I just went out to shovel my stoop and walk. It's about 6 inches so far. I'm still afraid there will be a wall of snow at my front door in the AM, so I brought the shovel inside tonight.
shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
winds are picking up. winter is coming.
World of Beer got rooms for their bartenders at the Hyatt. Genius. They are open all weekend.
Kids are in bed. Wife needs some wine and the resort store is right next to the bar so...I might as well.
That is some excellent deductive logic, Mark. I second it.
There's only one tiny corner of Virginia being spared the snowbludgeoning, and I'm here. Good luck to those getting dumped on.
I'm at WOB and I just negotiated a Heady Topper tasting for Rob. You owe me tiny one.
wait, what? i'll let you rename one of my kids.
No snow in VT yet. Not sure how our drive home will go on Sunday.
Our 6 y/o rallied hard today and my wife surprisingly gave ground on her argument, so we were able to stuff him into ski school.
And I participated as a judge in a wax vs oil vape contest tonight. Winner was...me.
Shlara - I want to ply you with drinks and get some straight answers out of you. But not in a Darren Sharper kinda way. That would be gross.
Too soon.
The manager has a stash of Heady. After snowgasm if over we will set up a tasting for you.
Your eldest daughter shall be called Rocco.
Wax vs. Oil is my favorite TR.
Adrian Wojnarowski's article on the Blatt firing is a scathing account of LeBron's involvement in the goings on in Cleveland. Can't say any of it seems very outlandish to me.
The Port Orleans resort at Disney keeps it real, by the way. To go cups at the bar, liquor for sale in the gift shop and they let you uncork the wine bottles you buy in the gift shop before you leave.
Snow fall totals so far, peeps?
headed to a pub(s) to watch some futbol while Jess is in class.
might have to check in here for some soccer-talk assistance
so someone wake up
It looks like we've got about 14" in my neck of the way. I received as a Christmas present a commercial-grade snowblower that I plan to fire up shortly. I used it last night twice - went over 55 yards of driveway in about 15 minutes, but will probably be more of a test today. Between that and my badass Murano, I will be one of the few not snowed in.
Port Orleans heh Mark? Was not aware of that.
My sister, the one with the 8 kids, is due with her 9th on Tuesday. She lives west of Winc out in the boondocks. Could get interesting if someone wants to come early.
She just sent me a pic....it is DEEP with another 10 hours of snowfall. Gonna get real up in there.
snow update: holy shit
Only about 8-9 inches here so far. I should practice what I preach and clear my cars but it's cold as a witch's tit in a brass bra out there.
eating breakfast in preparation for the first round of shoveling. estimating 18-20 inches here with another 16 predicted.
No snow up in VT! No idea what my drive home will be like on Sunday. Or, possibly, on Monday.
Woman across the street is 9 months pregnant, due a couple days ago. They're in the bumming dome, trying to keep the driveway and minivan ready for emergency launch.
Marls I'd do anything to get in on that tasting. Well, almost anything.
Two blizzard tips:
1. Shovel the mouth of the driveway before you do anything else.
2. Get your money's worth out of your vasectomy.
Kenny, we can discuss it over tacos at BarTaco. They apparently plan to stay open all weekend.
