Rolling Stone calls Weathervanes "a brutally beautiful songwriting peak". Pitchfork gave it a 7.5, and notes the record's "sun-bleached vibe". Axios says it's an "album that resembles one of Isbell's live shows, where he often turns the room over to his bandmates."
I've heard most of the songs at least once. There's resignation, and wisdom, and anger mixed with sadness ("Save the World" was written about the Uvalde massacre), and Isbellian wordsmithing. We'll start you off with Middle of the Morning, which is when I'll roll out of bed and start digging in.

nice goin rob. i rarely watch the non-major finishes with some exception but tuned into yesterday's action a few holes prior to the regulation finish. glad i did.
had a physical this morning. prime specimen, it turns out, though i'm supposed to cut back on my coffee and alcohol intake. not likely, that. was very, very happy to learn that blood analysis technology has advanced to the point where more, ahem, invasive inspection of the prostate function is no longer necessary.

kid who graduated high school with my oldest qualified for the us open out of woodmont (pretty crazy up and down to get one of the final two spots in a playoff: https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2023/06/05/us-open-qualifier-woodmont-cc/). he won the acc title this year as a junior at wake forest. pretty cool local angle for the open.
my kid was legit jumping around the room during the fourth quarter tonight. fun to have her get a little taste of being a lunatic fan.
