Fine, I'll do it myself. Just like a pair of G:TB faves who usually front terrific bands who are dropping solo records over the coming weeks.
Jeff Tweedy's Twilight Override will be released on September 26. It's a 30-song triple record. A goddamned opus. Here's "Enough", which is probably what Tweedy felt by the end of the recording process.
Old 97s frontman Rhett Miller follows Tweedy with A Lifetime of Riding by Night on October 10. Miller finished the record just days before he underwent vocal chord surgery that's kept him off the mic for several months. Looking forward to hearing this one live, including "Come as You Are".
thanks for the "we defy augury" plug!
ReplyDeletejust back from the beach and catching up here-- because of the whole teaching high school thing, i think i've seen a million faces, and i've definitely rocked like seven of them.
These musicians front bands that represent 2 of my 5 favorite bands ever. Good stuff, Robbie.
ReplyDeleteus women play a ferocious second half, take the lead on a try and conversion in the 71st minute, then allow a try in the 72nd by the wallaroos to settle for a tie. think it’ll come down to goal differential - us need to wallop samoa and hope england pants the aussies.
ReplyDeleteTribe loses a winnable opener. Oh well.
ReplyDeletetribe, red sox, alabama, colorado, fulham all losers this weekend. good time to be me.
ReplyDeleteI had a fantasy draft I. The league I’ve been in for 15 years yesterday and watched 12 hours of CFB. What a day. We are back baby.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I’m a bit hungover.
i’m gonna miss boulder when my kid isn’t here. appreciate her choosing this place for college.
ReplyDeleteI’m just back from Cincinnati, and won’t be sad if my kid stays there a few years.
ReplyDeleteVenus Flytrap approves.
ReplyDeleteVenus was one smooth brother. I didn't see Loni Anderson anywhere, though.
ReplyDeleteRight on brand that Trump is sticking up for his good pal Roger Clemens, even as he was barking up the obviously wrong tree. Those two are a perfect pair of guys who've never gotten it.
ReplyDeleteThe definitive Roger rant is still here after 20 years.
Had forgotten about the days when Simmons would regurgitate 10,000 words about Boston-related topics, and his Bristol, Conn., overlords would say, 'Sure, fine with us.'
ReplyDeleteMy kid switched volleyball club teams and the new one practices about twenty minutes away from 7-9 each Tuesday and Thursday. Highly inconvenient. I truly hate having to drive from the barrier island I live on over to the mainland.
ReplyDeletebefore my kid got her driver's license, that was us three days a week for cheer. only saving grace was the fact that the best brewery in loudoun county was in the same industrial park and it was close enough for mr kq to meet me from time to time.
ReplyDeleteSaving grace for me is she’s down to middle school soccer and volleyball now. No more softball. So I get a couple of nights a week off depending on the time of year.
ReplyDeleteNow if I can just get my bulldog fully healthy and stop sleeping on my couch.
Also, Novak-Fritz is pretty fun.
ReplyDeletefritz got that nuke laloosh million dollar arm/ten cent head thing happening
