People, Every Once in a Great While, Don't Suck

Arkansas State football coach Blake Anderson's wife Wendy passed on August 19, succumbing to cancer, that motherfucker. Anderson returned to coaching the Red Wolves last week, leading them to a 43-17 win over UNLV.

Today, in Athens, GA, Arkansas State is taking on the University of Georgia. The Bulldogs' colors are famously black and red.

And yet, a significant portion of the Sanford Stadium crowd is wearing pink in Wendy Anderson's honor.

That's a cool thing you've done, Bulldogs.

  5. Just planned a college tour/weekend in tallahasee for late October. FSU plays Syracuse that weekend. I’ll be wearing my “Pearl” Syracuse shirt that Saturday. And I’ll be pushing UCF. Because I don’t want my step kid to be a Nole and I don’t want to have to drive five hours to visit her for the next 4-5 years.

  6. My daughter just started kindergarten. She had soccer today and in one game she scored 4 goals in a 3-2 win.

  7. My older guy somehow became a UK fan a couple years ago. He saw their football team win 10 games last year, including a few SEC upsets. He had no idea their football team was a mess for the last 30+ years.

So he is pumped up tonight. And I have to admit, they look very good. Defense is getting pressure and being ball hawks, and offense has shown the ability to move the ball. Franks needs to make something happen to let his D rest.

  8. I don’t have anything to contribute kids-wise, my girls are the absolute best and most vital thing in my life. But they’re both out and about on a Saturday night.

I am, too. Outlaw Music Festival in Va Beach. Avetts crushed as always. Bonnie Raitt and Alison Krauss are great. And Willie up soon. I last saw him in 1993 at the Cape Cod Melody Tent, a rotating stage. Giddyup.

  10. She is. Florida’s Oline is not. I’m not cool with this new future where Florida regularly loses to Kentucky.

  11. Yeah, UK is a more physical team on the O-line and D-line. Sawyer Smith is a playmaker.

  12. i had a team meeting/call for my full organization last week. i'm conscious of the fact that i often use sports metaphors, so i sought to change it up this time. i used the avetts' 'kick drum heart' to make a point about momentum. i might be the coolest boss in the business. might not be, too.

  14. She looking at Sycamore?

And I believe the Latham Circle Mall has been torn down and rebuilt as some mixed use development, but I’ll effort to see if the Latham Long John Silver’s is still open.

  17. Wow. Not quite sure how Florida won. Other than Kyle Trask being the new Tom Brady.

  18. Trask is the palest person in the state of Florida.

  27. If you’re a full grown man and you need to wear a fleece jacket or vest on a 75 degree day you need to go to CVS and get some vitamins. Maybe eat some broccoli too. Or even go see a doctor.

  28. That’s some retro-Zman bitterness coming out on a Monday morning.

  29. It's going to be 90 fucking degrees in DC today. I better not see anyone in a fleece jacket or vest.

  30. I've been commuting to Grand Central through Penn almost every day for the past three weeks, including yesterday when I put in a full 8 hour day. Retro-level bitterness is in full effect.
