The Age of Majority

My marriage is old enough to drink. Turned 21 today. In honor of the day, and of my lovely bride, here's a video that will bring back memories for Whit and Dave, who were among my groomsmen. As our car pulled into the church before the wedding, this song came on the radio and we sung it out of tune at high volume. So random. So fun. Such a good memory.

Happy 21st to your nuptial union Rob. Ours turns nineteen in a few weeks.

Mine is 13. So there's probably some grass on the field.

Whit, Teej & Z, do we get to add ours up?

that solicited a literal LOL from me

I don't see why you can't combine them, though probably don't include that count with the current spouse.

Good point Rootsy.

Also, not to be too legalistic but the age of majority in most US states is 18.

I think it's like tacking in adverse possession, they add only for me but not for her. So for our 10th anniversary I got her some aluminum foil but she had to step up to a 15th anniversary gift for me, hence the crystal highball glasses.

I was 11 the first time and 3 the second.

Happy Anniversary, Rob.

I have my tenth in February. She’s probably going on 14-15 as I’m (at least) her second choice.

We’d planned to go back to Tortola. We may have to settle for New Orleans.

As you may have seen on the news, DeSantis has completely ripped the band aid off in Florida. Back to “normal”. I’m gonna pass on all that.

Happy anni Rob, I trust you're drinking something nice. 23 for us on Sunday. Getting away for a few days next week for some mountain relaxing. Cheers

There are only two high schools on the barrier island I live on. I attended one and the other one is the high school that Kelly Slater attended. My kids are actually districted for the school over the causeway (Greg’s alma mater). You’ll be not that shocked to learn that traditional team sports aren’t a huge deal in my community. Honestly, being a jock is actually a hindrance to popularity where I grew up.

This is all a preamble to say my alma mater actually has a decent FB program for the first time since I was in school. They beat the other beachside school 63-0 tonight. So they kept possession of the rivalry trophy. What’s the trophy? A surfboard. Because, of course it’s a fucking surfboard.

Thinking about having another kid just so I can name it Kyle. Boy or girl. Doesn’t matter.

Big day around here. Pretty fun late afternoon CFB window in case any of you guys are interested in sports.

Good one in Batt-AAN-rooj
In referencing a post from a week or so ago, have been on quest to make my perfect martini. Botanist gin, and proper brine. Am getting close. Not typically a dirty martini guy but damn does a good brine take it to the next level.

Mark said...

I don’t drink martinis often but I prefer them dirty. Speaking of dirty, KJ Costello is doing LSU dirty. 600 yards passing is a pretty solid SEC debut.

Danimal is more of a dirty Sanchez guy.

Back to reality for L-S- Eaux.

My 10 y/o pitched a 4-inning, mercy win no-hitter today. Other team was atrocious, but I’ll take it. He walked one in the 3rd, but picked him off 2nd. Faced the minimum 12 batters and had 5 Ks. Proud dad here.

Mark said...

That’s a nice Dad moment. The pick off is a cool addition.

Good stuff TR. No parent elections? What's going on up there?

Danimal said...

ejections

Mark said...

FSU is terrible. Like an almost I’m not taking satisfaction from it level of terrible. Almost.

rootsminer said...

Any parent erections? Even after the second base pickoff? Be honest, TR.

I had half a chubby. Hard to get too excited b/c the club we played was awful. They were in the wrong league. They came from the Bogota area, which is near Zman’s old stomping grounds.

My kid does not have a big arm. But he throws strikes. And he has an eefus-like change up. He threw it three times for strikes. One was a strikeout. A good team would have hammered him. But I’ll take the success. I’ll take almost anything youth sports-related these days. We are living on a thin line in our town, hoping folks behave.

5 games in the late afternoon window is the way to go for the NFL. Not sure why they ever do the 10/3 game split.

TR said...

Jets and Giants may both go 0-16.

MLB playoffs has 8 first round series and 4 second round series. Yet they will somehow have a two-day dead period (10/3-10/4). They are terrified of football.

Samantha Huge deleted her Twitter account. I wonder if a couple alum donors will have her nudged out the door shortly.

She spent $1.85 MM of school funds in May 2020 to resurface the track at Zable. She cut the track and field program four months later. Nice. She sounds like she should work in the Jets’ front office.

rob said...

i heard about the track renovation and didn’t even think about the fact that she shitcanned the team. that’s some serious fuckery.

zman said...

Perhaps they could’ve used that money to keep a different team. The captain of the swim team asserts that the track could’ve been fixed for half that much.

In other news zdaughter asked me “Why don’t the football people have to wear a mask?” and I don’t have an answer.
