Since there appears to be overwhelming evidence that a significant portion of America's ruling elite hates and fears strong women, we're going to dedicate some space here to highlighting badass ladies. Come November, a million righteously pissed off women are going to begin the slow process of leading us out of this unfathomable darkness. I can't possibly ever understand the depths of their anger, but I can do better to identify its sources and try to be part of the solution. For a long time earlier in my life, I'm well aware that I was part of the problem.
On September 17, Denise Mueller-Korenek rode a bicycle nearly 184 miles per hour, setting a world record and becoming the fastest human cyclist of any sex.
Here's how she prepared for her record-shattering ride:
The driver that piloted the car that gave Mueller-Korenek the draft that enabled her to set the record was Shea Holbrook, also a woman. Badassery times two.
And for posterity's sake, let me say that I believe Dr. Blasey Ford, and I eagerly look forward to Justice Kavanaugh's (Justice, because he's going to get confirmed despite a deeply partisan and flawed process, despite the fact that he's obviously not temperamentally suited to sit on the Court, and despite the fact that he's quite likely perjured himself multiple times.) impeachment.

Amen, Robbie.
lotta blue on the scoreboard there in paris. why do we suck so much at foursomes?
or should i say, devil's squares?
You’re watching quarters on TV?
And I said this here yesterday and I’ll say it again. I don’t see how any Article III judge, let alone a Supreme Court Justice, can sit on the bench after a partisan tirade like Kavanaugh unleashed yesterday. Maybe that’s ok for elected judges, like some states have, but not federal appointed judges. And Graham’s tirade about the process by which Dr. Ford’s story came to light doesn’t address the fact that Dr. Ford has this story in the first place. I know the GOP wants a vote to reverse Roe. There are lots of qualified candidates with that worldview, can’t they find a different one, one who isn’t potentially a rapist? Is that too much to ask?
I would hope so, and no. It is not too much to ask.
Team 'Merica - they sucked this afternoon.
not so fast, brett
sack of shit Jeff Flake has a conscience?
I get to work travel tomorrow eve - Orlando to Detroit Rock City then a drive to Toledo, Ohio, home of Deshone Kizer. Jealous? Not watching the Stanford ND game might be good for me, at least that is what I am trying to convince myself of.
A buddy of mine informed me that there is a Drivin 'n Crying doc on Amazon. I started watching it the other day. It's been a DNC immersion since. Have missed them. If you guys never met, introduce yourselves.
What was the name of that shitty strip-mall bar we saw them in college? I believe a few of you here might have seen that show. And if memory serves me, wasn't there a fight in the parking lot. Or something close to a fight breaking out.
I too have drinking memory problems like my buddy, Kav.
here's my prediction, worth as much as the pixels upon which it is printed. if the fbi actually does open an investigation into kavanaugh, the judge will withdraw from the process. i base this on the fact that there's a non-zero chance that such investigation will uncover evidence that he perjured himself during the nomination process. and if that happens, he'll lose his job on the federal bench.
equally likely, though, flake caves and kavanaugh is confirmed on a party-line vote.
With a surname like Flake, I expect him to hold strong to his statement.
Any bets on Trump’s mocking nickname for him?
So - I have watched way way too much of this political stuff. These old white men make me crazy! Sorry. Some move by Flake today. The coverage of him being cornered in the elevator this morning before the hearing started by two women who are victims of sexual assault was really something...and that was after he'd released the statement that he was voting "yes"...but after that happened, I think it shook him. Be interesting to see if the Senate leadership calls for the investigation now. If they don't, might actually cost them the nomination!
Trump already calls him “Flake Jeff Flake.”
Frosted Tips Flake?

This is great
Go ahead and throw Maria Gallagher in the badass category.
fact
my daughters' school had a usa-themed spirit night at its football game this evening. my 16 year-old's boyfriend showed up wearing a cccp hockey jersey. i like that kid.
Go ahead and google Ryan Braun’s wife. You red-blooded young men won’t be disappointed.
Picked up a UK pressing of All Mod Cons today. Whitney understands.
By the way, 180 MPH is crazy fast for a car, let alone a bicycle.
If you like beats and instrumental music like I do. Go ahead and check out Gramatik. That’s one funky Slovenian.
we suck at team golf
Funky Slovenian is redundant
Deshamblow
We don't make big putts. They do. Always.
Big putz?
Fun evening of CFB on tap. Can’t say I’m excited about the Florida game though. Feels like an ass whooping is coming our way.
Suede lederhosen don’t breathe well.
Well, that was stressful...but enjoyable.
Penn State has found a creative way to fuck this up...
that was coaching malpractice - the entire 4th quarter, starting with going for 2 after the touchdown.
A cover is a cover.
Kanye’s pard...that’s a see through top. Half dollar I’d say.
Catching up with the gheorghies...
Friday in NJ with Dave, Zman, and FOGTB Carles. Very good times despite someone’s erroneous call “this is not very strong”... I sobered up sometime yesterday and even shot a basketball (poorly) with Dave. Oh, and I swore off Fat sandwiches forever and cheesesteak with egg is on double secret probation...
Went to see David Wright’s Met sendoff at Citi Field last night. Little bit of a letdown that they pulled him in the 5th after a walk and a pop up. But the stadium was packed, everyone was all in on DW, and my cousin and I had a blast. We bolted in the 7th and went to Doc Holliday’s on the lower east side. Some of my favorite memories of my lifetime were generated in that bar. Last night didn’t measure up to that because I drank enough vodka that I don’t remember leaving. Such is life...
I’m on a train to DC now. Slept through my Acela so I’m roughing it with the masses.
Life... she ain’t bad
And All Mod Cons is worthy. It’s no Give Em Enough Rope but what is...
whitney's never gonna be confirmed to the supreme court, unfortunately.
we still suck at team golf
Other than not being a judge or having a law degree yet, why wouldn’t I be confirmed?
can't think of a single reason.
I enjoyed the “yet” in Whitney’s comment.
friday was very fun-- i felt like central casting did a great job providing archetypal central jersey folk for our man from norfolk to enjoy. mesh hats, muscle shirts, white outfits with bling, greek dj with skinny trimmed beard and no mustache, corner tavern folk, every race and ethnicity represented in every venue, all mingling, braless escort in a revealing red dress, etc etc. it was a parade of jersey round every corner. good to get zman and john out of their chatham enclave and into the greasy den of iniquity that is new brunswick.
i need more iniquity in my life. maybe don’t tell my wife i said that.
I also enjoyed the revelation that Dave’s wife was Cathy open till the time when Dave met her and decided she needed to go by her full name. Naturally, I decided to fix that.
Up until not open till. Thanks a lot, bin Laden.
Bummer to miss the Jersey experience in New Brunswick. I was in my Chatham enclave, at a backyard Oktoberfest party. It started at 3. Everybody was hammered by dark. And most dudes had lederhosen. So I now have a fall-back costume. The German costumes on the women were pretty fantastic. Cleavage galore. They had a fun band that knew how to get 40+ y/o parents moving. At one point they transitioned the music from “What is Love” to pure German techno. Everybody went kinda nuts. Wife and I managed our edibles all evening and had a blast. But eight hours of drinking, followed by six hours of sleep, followed by kid sports, has been tough.
watching the last season of bourdain's show is haunting
