it's a measure of the way the days are running together for me at the moment that i didn't even process the idea that if was going to post on 9/11 when i drafted this. i recall that it took me a few days to be able to laugh after that day 22 years ago. here's to the healing hand of time. and laughter.
Amen to that. It's still worth a pause in my every September 11th to remember the historically horrible day that was, and the friends we lost.
And I still get chills from the Mike Piazza homer in the first game back.
Whit is right that it's good to remember the day. I'd add that we should also remember how that awful day precipitated a sense of 'national unity' that was used to justify some dubious responses.
Among the reactions with fewer repercussions, my bandmate suggested we update an old tune about the sinking of the Titanic to reference 9/11. I didn't relisten, but our endorsement of war at the end is a little cringey in retrospect.
Harder to fathom, Aaron Rodgers out of the game after a few plays or that the Jets might win the game without him?
yes
torn achilles for rodgers. out for the season. there's a very reasonable likelihood that his entire jets career will consist of four snaps.
Rootsy, the Spotify link isn’t working. Any other way to hear the tune? I have a CD or 2 of the NRJB… somewhere.
