A not insignificant contingent of Gheorghies is tearing it up at OBFT. They could probably use more content. In an effort to facilitate good times, I’ve embedded “Heaven is Humming,” a new album by a new-ish band called Goon. Squeaky and Dave will like it because it sounds like other stuff they like. Whit will like it because he likes everything. Everyone else will tolerate it because they’re too drunk to care.
I think it sounds like My Bloody Valentine smushed with Alice in Chains. "Northern Saturn" and "Critter" are my faves so far. Enjoy.
Generally speaking, what happens at OBFT stays at OBFT. At least the stuff that needs to stay at OBFT. In this case, most of that is related to stuff that's now legal in Colorado. For the other stuff, feel free to head over to Sentence of Dave for our correspondent's review of the proceedings.
Incidentally, the reason most stuff that happens at OBFT stays in Nags Head is that none of us can remember anything. As a case in point, I got an email from Rootsy this morning reminding me that we had a rousing singalong to the song below.
There's also no judging at OBFT, unless we're talking about playlists.
I had to leave OBFT a day early to manage some child-rearing activities and work on a major proposal (when I'm not a dipshittery-peddling blogger of some renown, my alter-ego is that of a mild-mannered professional with a gift for writing bullshit that convinces government agencies to buy stuff - the two roles really aren't that dissimilar, now that I think about it).
My flight to OBFT was canceled so I will miss this evening's festivities. rob encouraged me to write a venomous post about my stewing hatred for the airline, but instead I will make like Action Bronson and post some whimsy.
Speaking of travel, Bam Bam recently took a trip to the UK and visited St. Hilda's East Community Centre, an old folks' home in London. Whimsy ensued.
Quite a few of the folks who frequent this space will be headed down to the Outer Banks tomorrow for the 19th (right, 19th?) edition of the Outer Banks Fishing Trip, or OBFT for the uninitiated. rob has promised some sort of OBFT post for tomorrow, but in the meantime, we need some filler. Tiny suggested showing everyone these horrendous Virginia Tech alternative helmets that were revealed the other day (via SB Nation):
Adios, folks. See you on the flip side. And for those headed down to the Martha Wood Resort Cottage and casino, don't forget those atrocious t-shirts. There are patrons of Tortuga's we need to impress/appall.
