Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas, known simply as Botafogo, is one of Brazilian soccer's legendary clubs. Founded in 1894, the club has had more players called up to the world's most famous national team than any other. In 2000, Fogo finished 12th in FIFA Magazine's reader vote for Club of the Century.
Despite its storied past, the club has had a run of dismal form this century. And in the Copa Libertadores de América, CONMEBOL's continental club championship, a legendarily series of empty results. Since its inaugural tournament in 1960, Botafogo had never lifted the Copa.
Never ended on Friday, as Botafogo shook off a red card to midfielder Gregore 30 seconds into the match to defeat fellow Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro, 3-1, in Buenos Aires.
Sports are many things, but in this particular instance, they're the bond that unites generations of Botafogo fans who'd never seen their team succeed at this level. Andiamo, indeed.

All they needed was an American capitalist to come in and run them.
this is the way
I thought they were going to knock grandpa over.
totally. no regard for elder life.
this Cali quake was 0.1 too strong on the Richter
I watched the latest Schur show, A Man on the Inside. Eight 30-minute episodes. I enjoyed it very much... though it started off very funny and turned rather sentimental. I'm a sucker for Ted Danson being goofy, and it made me smile.
I'm also 2/3 of the way through the Schur book. Audio style, with the actors from The Good Place doing a tiny bit of the narration. It's dense with philosophy. I'm learning and thinking, one commute at a time.
fuck sentimental, watch A.P. Bio. congrats on the new hip, teedge!
Dave has forever been mostly robot. Sentimental will not appeal.
The kids middle school soccer team finished their regular season undefeated. Gave up 3 goals in 8 games. Not too bad.
Of course the playoffs are next week and I’m traveling for work.
I too watched Man on the Inside. It wasn't what I expected but I did like it. Gets you thinking about the last chapter, for parents as well as yourself.
Another rec - started watching Black Doves yesterday evening, starring Keira Knightley.
My wife and I are six episodes into 'Man'. It hits the feels, for sure.

You can step away from my lawn now.
Yeah, we really need to get Gheorghemas moving so that Whit can finish day 12 some time in March.
