Back in my Bullets days I did a lot of work with a guy who worked at the Improv. He called me one day and said call everyone you know and get down to the Improv tonight, we have a surprise guest - can't tell you who it is but do NOT miss this. After the scheduled program concluded, the MC announced "ladies and gentlemen, Robin Williams." Apparently he was in town for a State dinner, had called the improv and said he wanted to come do some stand up. He walked on stage, took off his coat and said, "So, what do you want to talk about?" and went ahead with the funniest, most brilliant hour or so of improv comedy I have ever been lucky enough to witness in person. To watch him develop a joke, or go off on wild but yet carefully controlled tangent was to watch a genius in action. Have never forgotten it. What a tremendous loss.
You all have heard me babble about my love of Marc Maron's podcasts before. He just reposted a 2010 podcast with Robin. Maron is a good interviewer. Worth a listen.
And Robin's Live at the Met show from the 80's is about as good as anything done from that era. I owned it on cassette. I quote the "the moon hangs low...like a testicle" line more than any adult probably should. I said it this w/e during a very late beach day during the last full moon.
Made a friend at an airport bar. Higher Love by Winwood came on. Possibly due to the alcohol, I laid into the song with a degree of vitriol he was not prepared for. He left rather quickly.
I wish Canadians got fired up about more things than hockey and Axl performing crappy GnR shows. But seriously though, that song is TURRIBLE. Even worse than Henley's All She Wants to Do is Dance.
Pretty cool kq. That's one to remember. We saw him down at hard rock in Miami 2-3 years ago. If I'm being honest, I have to say it was a so-so performance, but still glad I saw it. Now being reported he hung himself...man.

MDMA is a performance enhancing drug for athletics? Hmmm. That runs counter to my knowledge.
