Porcupine Racetrack

When they write the history of Gheorghe: The Blog, I hope they spell my name right. I also hope they describe us as a mix of Sports Illustrated, High Times, and The State. Also, Cat Fancy. Can't forget about Cat Fancy.

That intro is really just an excuse to post this epic absurdity from the cast of The State, who reunited in COVID-style to reprise their insane and very, very, Stately 2009 musical sketch, Porcupine Racetrack. Rolling Stone describes it here, so I won't. I'll just invite you to enjoy.

just saw my son flying down the street on his longboard, being pulled by our dog. told him to try to avoid hospitalization.

A friend of mine broke his femur in high school after being pulled from a moped with a tow rope while on a skateboard. Godspeed.

I thought I knew all State sketches, but I never heard of this song before.

This was one of their you-needed-to-be-super-stoned-to-appreciate-it and also you-probably-needed-to-be-super-stoned-to-make-it ones. Which was true of many of their sketches, I guess.

My friend is doing a streaming NFL draft show. He does stand-up comedy so it might be funny and it will definitely be offensive. I'll share the link here around 7:45 if anyone wants to listen.

after a storm, we did the tow rope snowboard thing behind a car in high school. we all survived, but we probably shouldn't have.

Do people still drive mopeds? They were huge in NJ in the late 80’s. So were chappies, the small-wheeled varieties. All the gearhead kids would have souped up chappies. They would all say that they “bored out” something. I don’t know what it was. It was definitely unsafe.

I just saw a couple clips of tonight’s presser. Seems like it’s going well.

Everyone pumped for what is undoubtedly going to be the highest rated NFL Draft ever?

I love the Draft even when we’re not in a sports wasteland. I can’t wait for this years version. I’ve even scheduled a social distancing viewing of rounds 2&3 with Vitas on his back porch for tomorrow night.

I was more excited for the Jordan doc, but yeah, I will milk some entertainment out of GMs forgetting to draft tonight because they're on OnlyFans

my fellow virginians, it seems that sports betting will become legal in our fair commonwealth effective july 1, though it will take a little while for the regulatory framework to be formalized. this is either excellent news, or a real problem for me.

I was more excited for the Jordan doc (and I continue to be) but this is a welcome couple of nights of sports content.

Also Kingsbury’s house looks amazing and is completely on brand for Kliff.

Not a bad night for Ohio State recruiting.

I love that the Giants took a guy expected to go 10th w/ the 4th pick. They may be right, but I’ll enjoy the blowback they get.

I just want the Jets to get a tackle at 11. No need to reach for a WR.

And yes - very excited for the draft. Less excited to see Kiper’s head. That is one bizarre melon.

um, I just saw the Cardinals tweet of coach kliff watching the draft in his house.
WOW

also, I re-watched part 1 and 2 of The Last Dance last night.

somehow whoever the Jets take here, Jeudy or Becton, will be a bust...and the other will be a decade-long All Pro

Gettleman is so interested in the concept of “value” in the draft. Just gonna take his guy. And then tell you you’re stupid for questioning his approach.

Pretty heavy #SECBias tonight. Crazy that the NFL is in on that conspiracy too.

*so uninterested*

T.J. said...

dammit I wanted Jeudy, just for the fun of it

Big man!

I was hoping for Jeudy as well. Need a WR. I think you got a good pick tho, and I know what I am talking about.

Mark said...

Please give me Jerry Jeudy. Add him in the slot to that offense in Tampa and let’s fucking cook.

Cee Dee Lamb seems to have a prostitute next to him. My wife does not approve.

Social distancing overall looks subpar. Lots of groups of 6+ folks.

Jets GM Joe Douglas gave a hug to two of his kids after his pick. One played on my 6th grader’s tackle football team. My kid is fired up. Douglas’ kid is probably getting his phone lit up w/ texts. Nice to have your dad be a pro sports GM.

Mark said...

Had the same thought with all these kids in the shots with their GM Dads. They’re loving this quarantine draft.

I wanted Jeudy but I’m good with Wirfs. Brady isn’t exactly mobile and Tampa needed a tackle.

TR said...

Jags’ D is officially stacked. I love Josh Allen, and he now has a partner in crime.

Early bedtimes around here...

I thought CeeDee Lamb’s lady friend looked nice.

Mark said...

CeeDee Lamb snatching his second phone out of his lady friends hand was the highlight of the draft.

I went to bed with a few picks left only to wake up to find that Clyde Edwards-Hellaire (my number in want for Tampa Bay in this draft- perfect back for Brady) was taken by the Chiefs. Dagger. Holding out hope for DeAndre Swift or possibly JK Dobbins now.

Mark, what are the chances the Bucs will send the Skins OJ Howard?
