On to Happier Things

Fifty-six years ago today, in an idyllic little church in a postcard Massachusetts small town, my parents got married. This song was the top of the charts on that day:

My Mom's maiden name? Robinson. Ironic, that.

Here’s to the events that made Robbie a possibility. Cheers to the Russell/Robinson merger.

Happy Father’s Day gents. On my way to St Augustine for a couple days so my wife can continue her oath toward being a sommelier and the kid and I can hang out.

Hope you’re enjoying a good one, men.
Let’s hope Rory keeps his head on straight thru these last few holes.

this is some nerve-wracking shit. i don’t know that i’d be able to pull the club back in these circumstances.

that was a sick bunker shot from dechambeau, unfortunately

you miss two putts inside four feet in the last four holes, you probably don't deserve to win the u.s. open. bummer.

Just gutted for Rory. I don’t get it.

i'm gutted for me, danimal. i had matsuyama, shauffele, and aberg in a top 10 parlay that would've bought daddy a new pair of shoes, and aberg bogeyed 17 to fall out of the top 10 by one stroke. bad beat. fucking swedes.

Rob thought his ship had come in, but alas, it hit a berg.

Speaking of money people don’t have, USAA just let me know via text:

We're unable to repair your vehicle. We're calculating the value to provide a settlement offer soon.

Looks like I’m calling El Reynoldo again. A confluence of significant expenses has me asking him if he has any soapbox derby entries.

I don’t even quite understand what a settlement offer is or how this works. Anyone privy to inner workings, please lend advice.

lucky for you, less so for me, i've been through this process with usaa within the past month. basically, they're going to offer you what they've appraised your car as being worth. if you want to keep the car and repair it yourself, you can, but they won't give you any money. in my case, it would've cost $4k to repair the car and the car was worth $5600 after deductible (by their assessment), and because the repair cost was more than 70% of the value of the car, they deemed it totalled and offered me the money. had i not taken the $5600, they would've given me the repair cost but would not have insured the car any longer. i took the money and am seeking a beater for my kid to bounce off of things in the city for less than $5600.

i shouldn't say that won't give you any money. they won't give you full replacement value if you choose to keep the car and repair it yourself.

Belated Happy Dad’s Day y’all!
My parents married 60 years last week!
And I’m in NYC and got in to see Late Show with Stephen Colbert taped for tonight — 3rd row left! Trombone Shorty guest with band. WOW he and they are AMAZING! Show was terrifically fun. Airs at 11:30.
