Well, there will nobody out there surprised with this edition's inclusions. Remember when the ugly news of the day was Neil Young vs. Joe Rogan for Spotify's heart? I miss that.
That bickering did make me dig back into Neil's catalog. I'm a sizable fan of that prickly pear, and there are way, way too many of my favorites of his to pick one. (Probably warrants a separate post.) You could do a lot worse than simply rolling yourself a wooler and chilling out on a back porch on a rainy day with the Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere / After the Gold Rush / Harvest trilogy of brilliance.
But for now I'll pick two, one that's Greatest Hits material and one that's less so.
This is probably my favorite Neil Young song.
This one is just loose and a mellow anthem for life and how to live it.
CSNY stuff is no longer on Spotify. Here's a dandy.
Joni Mitchell wrote that last one. She pulled her stuff off Spotify as well.
You know who also followed suit? Our guy Nils Lofgren, whom we celebrated a few years back. (And we didn't label him as Bite Me, Randy Newman, even though he's 5'3"!)
Yep, Nils did the song for our fratre's dad Jhoon Rhee's Tae Kwon Do Studios that we highlighted in that post, and he did "Bullets Fever." Both were included in a release last year from Lofgren called Bonus Tracks. They were both on Spotify for a hot minute! Now they aren't. Giddyup.
He also recorded a song in the 70's when it sounded like Keith Richards was leaving the Stones. In this early version, guess who is sitting in, singing, and playing piano?

Yep. His old Crazy Horseman Neil Young.
See you next time on Notify! It's getting easier!

calvin ridley's suspension puts the nfl in a bit of an awkward situation, no? of course he should be suspended, but the league's all in on legal gambling.
Integrity of the game!
Need some help from the gheorghies re: family lodging and activities in NYC
When: mid-May, midday Fri til Sun afternoon
Who: me, my two college aged daughters, my gf, her son (10) and daughter (7)
Where to Stay: You tell me. Times Square? Central Park? Other?
What to Do: Mets game is a lock... unless they're still locked out. Maybe a show, what else? Sometimes we will split the crew up to divide and conquer.
We stayed near Union Square with the oldest a few years ago. Twas a good location. Plenty going on around the hotel and easy access to trains.
The W in union square (where you stayed a few years ago) is still good. That said, Union Square is pretty sketch right now.
You can go see Billy Joel at MSG on the 14th and make Dave’s head explode.
Chattanooga-Furman just played an absolute classic. Back and forth down the stretch and throughout OT. And two HUGE shots in the last 5 seconds of OT. March is fun.
Whit--avoid Times Square. I'm partial to my old neighborhood, the Flairon district. It's central, but not too touristy. Take a look at the Ace Hotel, Arlo Nomad and the James
• Walk the High Line starting at Hudson Yards and end at Chelsea Market
• The Metropolitan Museum and a walk through Central Park
• Take the Circle Line. Touristy but people like it.
• Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge into Dumbo and Brooklyn Heights/Promenade
• Tenement Museum, eat at Katz's Deli
• If you go to Citi Field, you can grab some great Korean food in the main business area of Flushing. If you don't have time for that, Koran food off of 32nd street. Jongro and baekjeon are good.
• Visit Eataly. Birreria on the roof is good for dinner,
• 9/11 monument and a walk through the Oculus center (it's a big boring mall but the building is interesting).
• Dim Sum brunch in Chinatown
• Pizza making class at Pizza School NYC
There are lots of walking tours that can keep a group entertained.
I agree Times Square is terrible, but there are lots of hotels there and it's near most of the subways. Maybe check AirBnB.
Thanks, gheorghies! Appreciate the recs.
