Bit o' the Irish
We started a fillery tradition last year celebrating our favorite Irish acts. And who are we to mock tradition? Indeed, who are we to mock filler? I'll get it started, you join in.

had one of those little moments that put a smile on an immature fella's face last night. during the soccer game i was coaching a ball flew out of bounds in the air with a decent amount of pace on it. it came directly to me. i casually pulled it out of the air with my left foot - stopped it dead without moving. one of the best touches of my life with my left peg. the boys soccer team was in the stands cheering on the girls (which led to some highly amusing moments) and they gave me a huge cheer. earned some props from the kids.

Spent the early part of St Patrick’s Day at the zoo in New Orleans (hit the aquarium yesterday) being a good parent. It’s huge and we spent more than 3 hours there.
Now it’s time for some drinks.
said for a while that iowa and alabama could go to the final four or lose in the first round. i assume that the tide rolls all the way through now.

South Carolina women’s basketball is very good. They lead Howard at halftime. The score is 44 to 4. Go Cocks.
Dawn Staley is my all time favorite womens basketball player. Love seeing her be a great coach.
In other basketball news, it’s a little thing but for a basketball dork like me the way all the Villanova players are clearly schooled to utilize pump fakes is impressive. I was not a bouncy athlete. The pump fake made me much, much more effective.
USC-Miami was a lot of fun. That’s the most underrated part of the tournament imo. Good teams that rarely play each other with something on the line.
FWIW, I saw Staley a bunch in college. "Covered" is inaccurate, cuz our rag is 2-plus hours from Charlottesville, but they were so good back in the day that we parachuted in for periodic games and features.
Anyway, Staley was a monster college point guard -- obviously pretty fair as a pro, as well -- but she wouldn't say 'ouch' if her foot was on fire. Painfully shy and rarely spoke outside team. That she became a coach, and a terrific one, at that, is remarkable.
alabama will not make the final four
Commonwealth of Virginia not lighting it up this tourney. Only team with a win is the team Rob… has a general distaste for.
