thomas rongen

also, nathan knight, coming back to school. fischer has pulled in a couple of commits and a grad transfer from penn (who's scored 85 points in 48 career games, soooo, yeah). we may have a full roster. we may also suck a lot.

Does Tom Riddle count? Tom Robbins should.

One of my son's schoolmates is obsessed with pickup lines, and tried one along the lines of "Is my name Tom Riddle? Because I need to hide my basilisk in your chamber of secrets".

In other news, I just posted a FREE stair lift on FB Marketplace about 30 minutes ago. In that short time, I've gotten ten messages from people who want it. I really want a way to vet who is going to show up with a crew and tools to get that thing out of there, so I don't have to dick around with it forever.

You should have charged $50 for it, Rootsy. That’s your vetting process right there.

our petty, gauche commander-in-chief had the uss john mccain's nameplate covered with a tarp so he couldn't see it while he was visiting japan.

Daniel Snyder also changed the name of Jack Kent Cooke Stadium. Ostensibly for money but let’s face it.

And after Trump is ushered unceremoniously out of the Oval Office, most every reference to this atrocious chapter should be redacted.

our family is in the process of adopting a dog. my wife has agreed to foster a puppy starting on monday. so if anyone has any ideas on acclimating a new puppy to adult cats (or vice versa, i guess), i'm all ears. also, pray for me.

I will be eagerly awaiting the results of that zoological experiment, rob, for I am in the market for a... okay, not really. I am just not a pet person. A heavy pet here and there excepted. Good luck.

The coverage of the little girl getting hit by a foul ball last night was upsetting. We had a discussion on this blog a dozen or more years ago bemoaning the jeopardy that fans, especially unaware children, are placed in during every ballgame (minor or major league). We decried the lack of protection in the name of some age-old aesthetic. Someday netting all around will happen.

Until then, MLB has protected itself with a disclaimer on every ticket, which is both legally astute and pretty awful from a whole "humans having a semblance of a soul" kind of perspective. Someone died in 2017 watching baseball, and while there was a half-solution implemented, the problem is quite clearly still there.

Pretty happy that ABC is ignoring Drake in the finals.
