Playoff Beard? Payoff Beard

"This is a story about a man, and how he achieved his dream  — by doing nothing."

So begins the story of Madison Rowley, the owner of the World Champion Beard of 2014. It also serves as a statement of aspiration that Gheorghies the world over are embracing today. I shall commence doing nothing...as soon as I work up the energy.

  1. your w&m tribe are 10.5 home favorites against the dukes of james madison university this afternoon. that's a stunning line to me. i think the tribe are more talented, and stinging from a bad loss at elon on thursday, but 10.5 is a lot of points. take 'em and take the dukes.

for the record, i'm 1-2 in tribe prognostication thus far, and the wrens are 2-1 ats. i'll be watching my daughter's chorus concert during the game, so marls, you're our only hope.

  4. The Action Bronson pandora station is so damn good. I listened to it for 3 hours today and didn't skip a single song.

  5. I'm writing an AB post in my head. zin-laws are here (huzzah.) so it's only in my head for the foreseeable future.

  6. I'm growing a beard. 2 weeks in. Abe-related and ridiculous.

Also, our friend's parents just dropped off a big jar of homemade Tennessee peach shine they got from said friends in Knoxville. Will sample this evening. Giddy.

And it's me you're waiting for, not Clarence. In due time.

  7. Boswell's column about the Washington football team today is a good one:

If McCloughan has similar success, it will require that someone solve an addiction problem. That person is Snyder. He’s addicted to NFL instant gratification. That charming enthusiasm can turn into childlike rage. An expensive toy — free agent, coach or GM — gets tossed away. Can the owner curb his fickle impulses?

  8. They're beyond embarrassing. Down 45 after 3 quarters to a below average Hornet team. That's pretty astonishing. Even for them.

  10. Do yourself a favor and type in Mudhoney on the ol' Pandora machine.

On a similar note, I vow to give Action Bronson a go today, even though I initially thought it was some kind of Charles Bronson figurine.

  11. Bronson sound I intially slept on that I play all time time now: The Rockers. Dope beat.

Flacco is good at this playoff stuff.

  12. I think Wilfork got even bigger.

  13. The guy assigned with blocking Wilfork for much of the game today, John Urschel, is a published mathematician.

He's much better at life than me.

  14. That's a good point, Z. I doubt it. Point for me.

  19. Edelman and Amendola are twins.

  21. So the game is boring, right? I'm not missing any fun?

  27. Btw...we lost our game today 34-20. Game over here too. Disappointing. Would have liked to see the east coast team with annoying accented fans win. Oh well.

  29. Scoutmasters, Zman. They're the kinds of guys that don't watch the Super Bowl.

  30. That was a hell of a game. If feel bad for Rob and TR if I was a nice guy. You all know better than that.

Kate Upton grew up around here but I have to agree with Dan.

I smoked wings today. Half with my usual rub and the other half lemon pepper rub. Both came out great. I'm very full right now.

  31. Kim Chancellor is not of this world.

  32. The Bills could use a back like Marshawn Lynch.

    ReplyDelete
  33. And the Bucs could use a defensive lineman like Michael Bennett.

  34. I saw the full preview for Jupiter Ascending and it might be the stupidest thing I've seen since GW Bush's last state of the Union address.

  35. Firs triple double in W&M school history tonight by some dude named Tarpey tonight. That's what the Twitter machine told me.

  36. Rex Ryan is the next head coach of our beloved Buffalo Bills. I'm enthused. Tremendously. Now all they need is a QB, an RB, some O line help, and an OC.
