Never Go Against the Family

There's a lot going on today: the Wrens close out their regular season at Towson (you'd get a preview, but the game's meaningless - W&M will be the 3rd seed in next week's CAA Tournament), UVA hosts Syracuse in a game that means a whole lot more than anyone expected in November, Fulham begins its desperate scramble out of the basement of the Premiership at home against a much better Chelsea squad, Clarence, Dave, Zman, TR and Marls are recovering from hangovers, Mark and Danimal are warm (assholes) and the Teej is studying.

We're not gonna write about any of that stuff. Because this:

(H/t to TR. Whining for the win.)

  1. kent bazemore's averaging 16 ppg as a starter for the lakers. that's pretty cool.

  2. that tribe game is televised regionally at 4:00. towson's a 5-point favorite. they've got an outside chance at the top seed in the league. the tribe matches up poorly with the tigers, who drilled the good guys by 15 in williamsburg two weeks ago. take the home side, give the points.

  4. Not even a "h/t" for me, Teej?

I feel rather subpar today. Of course, the kids are full of energy and I have to go to a tile store to buy stuff for the might master bath renovation. Good times.

I hope Marls is doing okay. Bad news is he overdosed on frat juice. The good news is he did not urinate on me this time.

Good to see everyone last night. I don't regret passing on the shots being thrown around.

  5. TR, if I had written this and posted it, most certainly would've thrown you a h/t

but rob posted this on the sly

  7. Actually, I OD'ed on frat juice on Thursday night wich led to me needing to make a relatively sober early exit last night. I can't say the same for Mrs. Marls and our houseguests.

  8. Re: Bazemore. He's benefiting greatly from how shitty the Lakers are. Good for him. Somebody should benefit.

  9. Spent all day at a volleyball tournament in Orlando. Now grabbing a beer at a redneck fish camp with airboats. A very interior of Florida place. Like the exact opposite of the beachy Florida most think of.

  10. Watching the Tribe game with Marls and some beers. Nursing a wicked hangover.

  11. Cuse soooo primed to lose in second round of this year's tourney

  12. i confess to being surprised by that result. the hoos' defense is for real.

missed the tribe call, too. my bad. they shoulda won it, too. still, 10-6 in the league, 3rd seed, 18 wins. all signs of real progress for w&m. and omar prewitt is for realz.

  13. I fear you might be right TJ. They look like a team that peaked too early. Could just be worn down by the grind of conference play though.

  14. I saw a tremendous mullet in the wild today. Not the fish. The haircut. It was a thing of beauty.

  15. Anyone else catch the Iverson jersey retirement speech at half-time? You have to cheer for that guy.

  16. tribe gets charleston in the first round of the tournament. they beat us by 33 last time we played. that's not the opponent I'd hoped for.

  26. Yeah, I watched Chavez even though I was pissed off at the undercard. Lomachenko got hosed in my opinion. It took him 5 rounds to figure out how to approach a guy who was 21 pounds over the weight limit (at least) and got penalized for not wanted to get his block knocked off. Boxing should have mandatory requirements that fighters cannot hydrate above a certain poundage after weigh-in. I thought Lomachenko won the fight anyway but the deck was stacked against him.

Chavez looked awesome, although he almost ruined it in the last round. He's kind of the Ryan Leaf of boxing - all the tools (great hook, amazing stamina when he trains, good size, good assortment of punches) and a 2 cent head. I thought he was out of gas as early as the 7th round but he finds a way to keep going.

  27. Hola Gheorghies. Just binge watched first five episodes of House of Cards

  28. Initial reaction? I haven't watched it to date.

Does a Hey Gheorghies count if you're up dealing with kidney stones?

  29. ..wife and I just started House of Cards early this past week. We're 9 episodes in. We like.

As for the 'cuse, for starters I thought it funny that UVA scheduled an "orange out" against Syracuse.

Two weeks ago when they were still undefeated is when I said they wouldn't make it past the 2nd round. I think these losses will help them. We shall see.

  30. I'm on the fence w/ House of Cards. We stopped w/ 3 episodes left in Season 1.

I hope a certain person's bowel issues are over. Never seen a barback have to light a match in a crowded bar b/c so many patrons were having problems with one person's issues before. Impressive.

  31. Agreed on all points re: Chavez. Not a very likable guy. Seems like a spoiled rich kid, which he probably is. No disputing his talent though.
