I owe rob a Tribe hoops post

Our fighting hoopsters take on Howard this evening.  Pasted above is a screengrab of this matchup.  Yeah, sooooo...there are only 347 teams in Division 1 hoops.  We appear to rank 342nd in scoring at 52.2 ppg.  That, my dear friends, is a steaming pile of poo.  But guess what, as you start to ask "Who's possibly worse than us?"...BAM, I give you that list:

347. Binghamton (47.7)
346. St. Peter's (50.3)
345. Howard (51.3)
344. Arkansas-Pine Bluff (51.8)
343. Centenary (51.9)

Oh wait, double-take, who do I see on that list at #345?  Ah yes, tonight's opponent, the Howard Bison (not to be confused with my awesome high school alma mater the Shaker Blue Bison).

So I guess what I'm saying is get ready to enjoy a 47-45 barnburner folks (with the good guys triumphing of course).  Tribe Pride, it's contagious (and a tad itchy).

  1. NFL, rodentia, tribe hoops . . . something for everyone.

  2. and to amplify the teej's sentiment, the wrens really need to find someone other than marcus kitts and quinn mcdowell who can score the basketball. the two of them average a combined 25.3 of the tribe's 52.2 ppg. nobody else, even the esteemed johnmark ludwick, gets more than 6.3. our 59:95 assist/turnover ration really isn't getting it done, either. i'm looking at you, kendrix brown.

  3. Ralph Wilson should unleash his GC on Howard for trademark infringement.

  4. That's great that the Tribe are playing tonight, but we're all more excited for Michigan State-Duke, right?

I mean, Florida is playing UCF (leading scorer: Marcus Jordan) at the Amway Arena but that's a just a side dish too.

  5. Jordan's kid with a good start to this game...

  6. Tribe up 35-22 at the break. Monster first half for the Tribesters.

Big Blue at home against the white-hot Spiders, down 1 at the half. Either of these teams holds the Tribe to single digits in the first half.

  14. Weird stat of the night: Richmond made 100% of their free throws against Old Dominion last night . . . or I should say free throw. 1 for 1 on the night, and that one shot came with a minute and a half to play. Wild, wacky stuff.

  20. One neat thing about Qatar is that there's no generally accepted way to pronounce it. Some say it like "kuh-TAR." Others (including all senior executives in the oil industry) say it as "cutter".

It will be FASCINATING to hear this played out over the next 12 year. We should revisit The Teej's air qatar joke at that time to decide if it was truly funny or not.
