U.S. Reed Claps His Hands, Says Yeah

Just to prove we're not all Tribe all the time around these parts, check this out:

College basketball is fun.

  1. He beat the buzzer by the skin of his yellow country teeth.

  2. People from Orlando have yellow country teeth?

    Man, I'm glad I don't live there.

  3. It's a line from a Clap Your Hands Say Yeah song. I was trying to get a musical rhombus going. I have no problems with Floridians' dental hygeine, at least not as a general matter.

  4. I love that song....I don't love the hangover I still have from New Year's. Haven't had that much to drink since beer bash '95. Thankfully, less vomit. Turns out having kids actually increases one's tolerance - but makes the hangovers more intense. Deadly combo.

I can't say "Tribe" enough at work today...people have no idea what i'm talking about.

  5. And there will be no coherence in anything I write or speak today.

Back to the usual for Dennis.

  6. As a point of reference, Tribe was 50 in the AP poll and 35 in the ESPN/USA Today poll.

Anybody know when the new polls come out?

  7. I'm still hungover from Vegas...and definitely threw up in the Cleveland airport at 7am Saturday.

Amazingly, it freshened up the place.

  8. My ribaldry led to my breaking a toe on NYE. This was done while clearing plates from the dining room table, a task that leads to more emergency room trips than one would imagine.

  9. Ouch.

And the broken toe sounds painful too.

  10. I spent the New Year weekend slathering prescription topical cream and Desitin on my poor 5-month old son's inflammed private parts to no avail while he cried and rocketed Yoo-Hoo every 15 minutes for 4-5 days. I then was on diarrhea patrol for the oldest, who picked up the stomach bug from the youngest.

    Good times.

  11. Tribe is in the Parish Top 25 plus 1 poll....

  12. freezing office update: i'm considering reenacting the moped on the mountain scene from dumb n' dumber and urinating on myself to get warm.

  13. Like Dennis, I love "Skin of My Yellow Country Teeth," but I love "White Teeth" even more, regardless of what the critics say about hysterical realism.

  15. If we're contemplating the resume necessary for the Tribe to get an at large NCAA bid, what win total do we think is required. They are 10-2 and have 16 regular season games remaining. If they were to go 11-5 and end up at 21-7 with wins @ Wake and Maryland, I'm wondering if that gets them in, especially considering their RPI.

  16. Rob, I think if you simply mention the word (acronym) "OSHA" in front of your CEO, you'll get quick approval to work from home. A work-related case of pneumonia could make the papers and spiral your company into the abyss.

It's 34 here in Norfolk but 70+ in my apartment. I've been cranking out some work this morning while donning my pajama bottoms and a long sleeve tee. Good luck with that freezing cold crap.

  18. tribe is 35 and 37 in the espn/usa today and ap polls, respectively. i can't believe i'm disappointed in that fact.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Yeah, I thought that might happen.

  20. Geoff,
The Tribe will aslo get their Bracketbuster game in late Feb. If they keep playing well, this will give them another chance to get a good road victory.

The parings are set on Feb. 1 and are usually done based on RPI. If they were doing them today, the Wrens would get likely Butler.

  21. That means we moved up 13 in the AP, but not one spot in the ESPN/USA Today. Let's jam all 476 of ESPN's college basketball personalities. Starting with Jay Bilas and his weird head.

  22. and wake forest is ahead of us in both polls. feh.

  23. i listened to that new black keys project, "blakroc" (sp?) and i thought it was kind of mediocre. maybe i'll give it another try. i like "wales" new album.

  24. I had low expectations for the album because almost all previous rock/rap collaborations suck. The first track on Blakroc is a prime example of why the two usually don't mix well - hiphop requires big holes in the music for the MC to fill in with his voice, and rock typically doesn't have those holes, and when rockers try to make the holes it gets stilted. Danger Mouse produced the last Black Keys album, so maybe they had a little hiphop production knowledge going in and they provided holes (like yer mammy). The album also has plenty of good MC's, many of whom have a somewhat musical approach to their flow (unlike, say, Guru). And it features my new favorite line:

She told me that my head was funny
I'm just big dick and big money
So I let her fuck me and spit at me
But she ain't walkin' away with a penny
