Good Morning. Enjoy.

Mark isn't the only one who enjoyed some old school hip hop...

  1. There's a 100% chance this song will be stuck in my head all day now. Nice work, Thomas.

  2. It's been stuck in my head since yesterday, so yep, you're fucked.

  3. Well seeing as I've had "Everything I do..." running through my head off and on since Family Guy on Sunday this is a huge improvement.

  5. Greatest MC of all time, imho. How did you get this stuck in your head Teej? I'm trying to imagine circumstances under which you would randomly hear this song and I'm at a loss.

And speaking of Queens getting dropped ... it seems like their pitching staff is comprised of washed-up veterans, unproven youngsters, and Johan Santana. I'm not sure they can contend for the playoffs this year.

  6. The iTunes internet radio has some fantastic stuff.

  7. Z, what makes that assessment of the Mets any different than last year?

I think Pelfrey & Maine might object to the unproven part, but it's not a rock solid rotation. I'd rather have had Derek Lowe than more Ollie. The Mets are a 3rd place team, maybe 2nd.

  8. The Mets would've made the playoffs if their pen didn't continually abort. They added some depth there this year. Most of their everyday lineup is intact, and Pelfrey and Maine are decent. If they can find some production at second base and get a corner OF with pop, they have a very good chance of getting into the playoffs.

  9. The Yankees are on track to be the most amazing flop in recent memory.

My 2009 predictions: The A-Rod story won't fade, causing him to press and struggle and hear boos at home and on the road, Burnett will visit the DL before the All-Star break, Cano will continue to be lackadaisacal, the 36 year-old catcher signed through 2011 will show more signs of fading, the aging closer signed through 2010 will continue to show signs of fading, the 34 year-old shortstop will continue to show he's an overpaid .290 hitter with poor range, the 34 year-old DH will continue to deteriorate and the outfield will be weak offensively and defensively.

The popular notion that the Yankees have a lethal offense is way off. Tex will be a stud, but fragile A-Rod will be a wild card. And the following folks are well past their prime: Damon, Jeter, Posada, Matsui. I would feel better about Sabathia if he hadn't been worked into the ground in the second half of the 2008 season.

  10. from your lips to God's ears, rhymo.

i'm perhaps a little more bullish on the yankees' chances, but they do have a lot of risks.

    ReplyDelete
  11. RhymO's point about the Yankees offense is a good one. They were pretty bad offensively for much of last year.

Wait...you assholes just suckered me into some baseball talk. Fuck you, fuck you all.

  12. I'm shocked rob didn't throw in one of his patented plugs for that other blog loosely affiliated with us...

    ReplyDelete
  13. i believe whitney holds that patent. along with the one for the beercan helmet.

  14. And while this post takes filler to an entirely new level, the geniuses at G:TB will make it up to you. Promise.

  15. rob breaks promises as often as he breaks hearts.

  16. be patient, jerry. brilliance takes time.

    ReplyDelete
  17. now that i read jerry's post more carefully, i think he's taking umbrage with the characterization of teejay as a genius. not cool, man.

  19. ESPN.com contributor Brian Windhorst of the Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting that the Cavs have offered Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic to the Phoenix Suns for O'Neal.

OK, now this I would like to see...

  20. I've got to say that I'm a little disappointed that Rob never responded to my rock throwing over at MLC. Guess I need to ramp up my vitriol.

  21. You've got to re-calibrate your insult meter. This is the home of the guys who created a fully functional blog staffed by 4 fictional characters with the sole purpose of making fun of me and Geoff. Mostly Geoff.

  24. Hollywood is so full of fresh ideas:

Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson and Robert De Niro are set to re-team for a sequel to their smash hit Meet The Fockers.

The trio has reportedly agreed to reprise their roles in upcoming comedy Little Fockers, the third film in the popular Meet The Parents franchise, which has garnered takings of more than $800 million worldwide.

The new movie will center around the children of Stiller's character and his comedic attempts to appease his disapproving father-in-law, played by De Niro.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Thanks, Jerry. I'll work up some better insults and such to throw their way. I don't want to blow my wad before the season even starts though. So I'll use Spring Training to get my legs underneath me.

    ReplyDelete
  26. There will be no talking about tiresome Hollywood story re-treads until we properly flog the upcoming GI Joe flick. Ugh.

  27. This deal has lots of funny guys involved...

The Minnesota Timberwolves have sent Rashad McCants and Calvin Booth to Sacramento for Bobby Brown and Shelden Williams, continuing the Kings' role as the most active trader of the deadline.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Don't be Cruel, TJ.

The Timberwolves are saying that Every Little Step we take towards respectability brings us closer to making it On our Own without KG.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Don't forget that McHale told the press that, "Making this trade was My Prerogative and won't comment on whether this trade had anything to do with Rashad Humpin' Around with the ugly Kardashian sister."

    ReplyDelete
  30. I watched the entire McHale presser on Shelden's forehead.

    ReplyDelete
  31. "Shelden's Forehead"? Was that one of Bobby's deep cuts or something he did with New Edition?

    ReplyDelete
  32. It was a duet he did with Whitney.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I gave Hollywood a pretty big pass once I saw another Fast and Furious is coming out, with all the original characters. Anyone joining me at the multiplex for that one?

    ReplyDelete
  34. In Fairfax do they still have newsreels before the movie?

    ReplyDelete
  35. mark, my bad. until this very moment i had no idea about the rock throwing. i haven't invested a lot of time in gearing up for baseball yet.

so, um, i guess your comment was accurate.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Jerry, in Fairfax they call them "talkies"

    ReplyDelete
  37. "An entire meal cooked in only 45 minutes? That's right, they're calling them 'TV Dinners' and they could be coming to YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD SOON! Just peel back the foil on the desert, place the tray in the oven, and in 45 minutes you have a delicious complete dinner! Salisbury steak, potatoes, green beans, and a cherry cobbler. Yum. And it will free up your wife for additional cleaning duties! Look out for this wild new creation at your local grocer today!"

    ReplyDelete
  38. TJ (although he may not fully know it) and I are hoping Mr. Pelfrey has himself a bomb year as well...

    ReplyDelete
  39. I am not ready to focus on our fantasy team yet...

    ReplyDelete
  40. Rhymo, get excited:

From SI.com's Chris Mannix: The Knicks have made two trades, a league source confirmed. New York is acquiring Larry Hughes from the Bulls for Tim Thomas, Jerome James and Anthony Roberson. In the other deal, the Knicks are receiving Chris Wilcox from the Thunder for Malik Rose and cash. Wilcox was part of the Tyson Chandler deal that was rescinded Wednesday.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'm in for the new Fast and Furious with Mayhugh. But I'm still not sure where this "Fairfax" place is. I'm pretty sure that it is made up. I tried to type Fairfax and The U into my GPS and it didn't recognie either.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Those Knicks trades actually make them a better team. Thomas has his good moments, but they are always overshadowed by massive spurts of idiocy. His tiny IQ matched his tiny head. And Jerome James is now off the books. Wilcox for Malik is another (small) upgrade.

The Knicks have a real shot at 36 wins and an 8 seed. Awesome. And they can now afford to re-sign Lee. They should let Nate Dogg walk though. The guy is at his ceiling right now and will get a ridiculous offer from a dumb team that the Knicks should ignore. Regulate.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I think Wilcox might be able to put up some decent numbers in D'Antoni's system . He's best when all he has to do is run and dunk(I'm also curious to see how Cousin Larry works in that system).

I agree on Robinson. And, I'm pretty sure this will be Anthony Roberson's 4th NBA team in less than 3 full seasons.

Getting rid of James' contract is huuuuuge.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Rafer Alston to the Magic. Alright.

    For a first rounder? No.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Donnie Walsh signed Roberson to a 1 year, $800 K deal in the off-season for no good reason. Because of that, the Knicks cut Pat Ewing Jr., instead of having him as the 15th guy on the roster. The crowd would've eaten up little Ewing in uniform, giving this odd team some goodwill with fans. Instead, they got Roberson to waive a towel. D'Antoni didn't want him, but he couldn't push back against Walsh by cutting his first FA signing.

I know Ewing Jr's not that good, but you can see the marketing appeal of having him as the 15th man.

I see Marbury being cut on 3/1 (or whenever the deadline is for him to miss out on a playoff roster).

    ReplyDelete
  46. Your Magic will be a good team for the foreseeable future, Mark. It's not a terrible price to try to salvage the season if the pick is in the mid 20's (or worse).

    ReplyDelete
  47. I remember reading that Roberson got signed because he looked really good (relatively speaking) in the early summer league games and both D'Antoni and Walsh decided they wanted to lock him up so they wouldn't lose him to somebody else. It was a total panic move, for sure, but i don't think you can place the blame for it solely on Walsh.

    ReplyDelete
  48. is pat ewing drawing an nba paycheck right now?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Last I herd, Ewing Jr. was in the D-League. Ewing Sr. is teaching Dwight Howard post-up moves. And sweating profusely.

    ReplyDelete
  50. That's right. If you watch Dwight enough, you'll see he's trying to perfect Ewing's gallop threw the lane and hook shot. Not quite so refined as of yet.

    ReplyDelete
  51. MASN (the Peter Angelos-owned sports channel around here) loves to show old Georgetown games. The other night there was a classic Gtown/Cuse game on, and I have to admit, I forgot how freaking ridiculous Ewing was in college. I was in awe watching him block shots, run the floor and ferociously dunk on anyone in his way (teammate or foe alike).

    ReplyDelete
  52. something's wrong with my internet. it keeps saying that penn state basketball is relevant.

    ReplyDelete
  53. It's true. By the time I became and avid NBA Fan he had started to lose his fastball a bit. Its easy to forget what an athletic force he was.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Hey rob, the Crispin Brothers, much like wrestling stable DX, have two words for you...

    ReplyDelete
  55. Ewing Jr was in the D-League dunk contest.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Ewing is actually kind of underrated as an NBA player nationally. The guy put up a lot of numbers and won a lot of games. None of it with a whole lot of help on the offensive end.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Jerry, Charles Smith would object, but he's still missing gimmes from 2 ft...

    ReplyDelete
  58. OK, somone needs to tell the Charlotte students you can't storm the floor when beating the #17 team in the country.

    ReplyDelete
  59. They're on a long list of student sections who need to receive that memo. Didn't Wake rush the floor when they were ranked in the top 5 and beat Duke?

    ReplyDelete
  60. Yes sir I believe they did.

So, do I watch Nova beat Rutgers by 30 or Wisconsin hold Indiana to 30 total points? Or, gasp, a 13-11 St Bonaventure team play a 7-15 GW squad?

    ReplyDelete
  61. I turned by long enough to see a sick dunk by Maxiell with Bonner cowhering belong him.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Yep, I now apparently misspell words as if they're former NFL coaches.

    ReplyDelete
  63. That's what you get for speaking ill about the pride of New Hampshire.

    ReplyDelete
  64. eldrick woods, golfing professionally next week. awesome.

  65. Rob, I'm not listening to a singletary thing you say.

  67. Rutgers may win this thing. Just kidding, although Mikey Rosario has skills.
