Shaq's retirement leaves an enormous void, his mammoth physical presence matched by his outsized personality. Dwight Howard's got the athletic gifts, but try as he might, he's no Big Aristotle. Birdman is crazy, but he's got more of a cry for help vibe than Shaq's fun-loving Gheorgheness. The league needs someone new.
How's this: a left-hander who's head-and-shoulders taller than most opponents, who makes fans of all ages cheer his every move? A man who rocks high black socks in the old school way, who's unstoppable on both ends of the court, and is as comfortable in the boardroom as he is on the boards. Look no further, Mr. Stern, G:TB gives you Wen Jiabao, the Big Premier.
New post, but let's focus on this tennis match. Djokovic about to serve for the set. Shaping up for an amazing 5th set, although darkness may push the finale to tomorrow.

dave - random question: do you use any note/thought organizing software to manage ideas and notes to help with writing?
ReplyDeleteit's been a while since i said it's beerthirty.
ReplyDeleteanother random question: anyone have any suggestions on good resources for research into the rise of the corporation vs. the individual? i'm doing research, bitches.
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, folks: last time around our pal Hightower got relegated to Universal Sports. According to sources, he will now be doing color commentary for the Collegiate Rugby Championship, a college rugby sevens tourney being played in Philly. He's slated to be on NBC, which will air some action in the late afternoon both weekend days. Probably also on Universal Sports and Versus. If he does well, fingers crossed for the rugby World Cup in New Zealand this fall.
ReplyDeleteAnd at that point I begin to recoup all that he glommed off me in college for four years.
i'm suffering significant sports withdrawal this evening
ReplyDeleteWhy the hell is the hockey game tomorrow night? It's not like they had to fly back east.
ReplyDeletedoes it sound like dave uses any organizational tools with his writing and/or thoughts? have you read anything he's written?
