Well, I've got to hand it to the local news...they apparently figured out YouTube existed, and then unleashed this gem on an unsuspecting public. The spot below "stars" a pretty odd pair - WUSA 9 sports anchor Brett Haber* and current Washington Capitals enforcer Donald Brashear**. Haber long ago worked at SportsCenter and unsuccessfully hosted Z104's morning show a few years back. Brashear of course is well known for taking McSorley's stick to his skull and bouncing off the ice a bit. Donald also happens to rank 35th on the all-time penalty minutes list (McSorley is 4th on that list and Swint's boy and public menace Bob Probert is 5th). The real crime in this poor imitation of an ESPN promo or Terry Tate commercial is NOT the acting (hard to believe I know) - it's the fact WUSA and Haber have another promo, a much better promo, starring who else but Gheorghe Muresan. Let's get that baby on YouTube.
* Brett Haber does not enjoy being handed dollar bills for touchscreen video trivia games at an empty sports bar, especially not when he is conversing with fellow local sports anchor Dave Feldman.
**Donald Brashear is an accomplished pianist.
Dedicated to the premise that life would be better if we all took ourselves a little less seriously.
On a similar note, Notre Dame got assaulted by LSU last night, as they do in every big game recently.
ReplyDeleteBrashear plays for the Caps? When did that happen? did they bring him in to protect Ovechkin?
ReplyDeleteFlyers didn't want him after last season, so now he's Ovechkin's protector.
ReplyDeleteFor the record, you handed the dollar to Feldman, not Haber.
ReplyDeleteThe devil is in the details...
ReplyDeleteAnd Haber definitely thought he was too cool for Mr. Days.
ReplyDeleteT is absolutely true. Feldman suffered your antics gladly, but Haber big tymed you and everyone else in the bldg.
ReplyDeleteTribe Pride...watched entire 2nd half of W&M game today, and the amount of whiteys on the floor for the Tribe is amazing. However, that's 6 straight wins, and the Tribe now stand 9-4 (2-1 in CAA)...start believing.
ReplyDeleteWas there a more obvious impending loss than the Wizards road game against Toronto yesterday?
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I cannot get "Smack That" by Akon out of my head...
ReplyDelete"...kick it like Tae Bo..."
Hi,

THE United States army has recognised white witchcraft as a religion and has appointed chaplains to oversee pagan ceremonies on at least five bases. A Pentagon spokesman said yesterday that there were believed to be at least 100 witches attending covens at Fort Hood, Texas, the army's largest base with more than 42,000 troops. So respectful has the army become of the pagan rites that security was increased at Fort Hood's Boy Scout camp, where covens are held. The move is to deter members of Christian groups from intimidating the group. The pagans, called Wiccans, are accorded the same privileges as practitioners of Christianity, Judaism and Islam. They are encouraged to have their religious preference stamped on the metal dog-tags each soldier wears.
