The same kid has a wildly eclectic and expansive taste in music. Yesterday, the two threads crossed when they texted me to say they were listening to a song called "Flump", by a band called The Skull. As you likely know, The Skull is a Chicago-based doom metal band that's been around for about a decade. And doom metal, obviously, is "an extreme subgenre of heavy metal music that typically uses slower tempos, low-tuned guitars and a much "thicker" or "heavier" sound than other heavy metal genres."
The kid sent me a link to the tune, and to be honest, I had some apprehension. But upon a few listens, it's got its own sort of appeal. I don't think I'll be running out to buy The Skull concert tix, but I've heard worse.
Enjoy "Flump", by The Skull.
sabrina's dagger last night was cold
ReplyDeleteMetsies were flump last night.
ReplyDeleteSeemed like blerrg to me
ReplyDeletebit more of a glorrmmp feel, if i'm honest
ReplyDeleteWhat word is used to describe a seven game series that has no compelling games? Asking for some friends.
ReplyDeleteTony Bennett abruptly retiring at UVa is a bit of a shocker. Multiple outlets reporting not health related. He has presser today, where it's hoped he explains.
ReplyDeleteHe's not a fan of current landscape of constant roster churn and unregulated NIL. Late departure means that his friend and longtime asst. Ron Sanchez is likely interim. For context, Dean Smith similarly retired in Oct., so his longtime consigliere Bill Guthridge would get the job. Bo Ryan did same at Wisconsin for his guy, Greg Gard.
Gonna brag about my kid for a minute here. Just finished her first quarter of middle school with straight As. Picked softball back up after 3 years of not playing and is starting at 3rd base for her 3-0 team. After giving up soccer 9 or so months ago she decided to go out for her middle school team (first year it's an interscholastic middle school sport around here) and made the team. Also, just made her Volleyball's club's traveling team (6 spring tournaments all over Florida and Nationals in June). Kid is gonna be busy and tired but I couldn't be prouder.
ReplyDeleteGood deal, Mark. Congrats to her. Who's gonna be busier and tired-er? Her or you?
ReplyDeletethat's the good stuff, mark
ReplyDeletein related cool news about kids, my little one found out today that she's going to get to cheer at her first away football game, at kansas on 11/23 - the game will be played at arrowhead stadium.
ReplyDeleteProbably me, Dave, because I’m old. Worth it though.
ReplyDeleteAnd that’s really cool, Rob. Hell of a venue for her road debut.
Good stuff by Maple.
ReplyDeleteLFGM
ReplyDeleteHell yes, Kenny
ReplyDeletetony bennett is a hoops lifer, like his dad. he's gonna be coaching a d-iii team within two years. hear me now and believe me later.
ReplyDeleteGood kid news here men. Proud papas
ReplyDeleteyoooodge day, gheorgies!
ReplyDeleteseems that curt cignetti can coach ‘em up
ReplyDeleteapparently south carolina attempted an onside kick up 30 against oklahoma. that’s some trolling right there.
ReplyDeleteHomecoming may have killed Donna and Whit
ReplyDeleteGignetti can definitely coach em. His “google me” quote from his introductory press conference is standing up well.
ReplyDeleteAlso, everyone knows I hate Tennessee so believe me when I say I dont say this with bias. Heupel isn’t a good coach. He had early success at UCF with the previous regimes players and then things started to fall a part. We’re watching the same thing happen now.
As for Bama. Never be the guy to follow the legend.
Hey y’all! Homecoming was super fun. I was only there yesterday, but it was great! It’s funny that I live so close and almost never go. But managed to work it out yesterday. Clyde Tinnen was there this year, and we got to catch up, plus seeing Whit, Paci, Bruce Weaver, Alex Bart, etc. Bonus, I got to hang out with my kid, too, a bit. Y'all shoulda been there. And the Mets won! Too fun watching with Whit.
ReplyDeleteFollow up comment to my football thoughts on last night in the sober light of day. DJ Lagway is special. Like first pick in the NFL Draft potential. I just pray that Florida can keep him on campus and protect him from injury.
ReplyDeleteMark - I’m assuming that Napier is getting canned at the end of the season. If that is the case do you think Lagway heads into the portal?
