Proper Sesh, Proper Lad

Robert MacIntyre is a 27 year-old up-and-coming professional golfer. The Scotsman represented Europe at the 2023 Ryder Cup, going 2-0-1 in the Euros' thrashing of the Yanks. He won his first PGA TOUR event last weekend at the RBC Canadian Open, giving him a total of four professional wins across the globe. MacIntyre's win in Canada qualified him for entry in this weekend's elite Memorial tournament in Dublin, Ohio. Of note, his father Dougie was on his bag for the win.

His response qualified him for inclusion in the pantheon of Gheorghie golfers, joining Joel Dahmen.

Rather than claiming his slot at The Memorial, famously known as Jack Nicklaus' tournament, MacIntyre chose a different path. During the trophy ceremony on the 18th green after the event, he told CBS on-course announcer Andrea Balionis that he'd be heading back to Scotland to "have a hell of a party". FlushingIt, a social media account focused on things UK golf-related said, "As promised in his presser, Robert MacIntyre has WD from The Memorial and is returning home to celebrate his Canadian Open win. He's about to have a proper sesh."

Proper Gheorghie, young MacIntyre.

  1. Honeymoon travelogue, entry 1: made it from Norfolk to Newark. 150 people in line when we got to ORF at 5:30a. Nightmare. Elaine cut the line and we made it in time. Love that gal.

    Here all day. Stay tuned.

  3. That’s a hell of a United Club. Enjoy, Whit.

My kid is getting braces put on today. I care less about the cost than this summer’s constant reminder of the passage of time. I definitely didn’t anticipate how emotional her growing up would make me.

  5. Mark, I’m with you on the girls growing up makes me wistful thing. But now I am 3 weeks from having two girls that I can belly up to a bar with and daydrink. Love it.

  6. My oldest just turned 21 at the end of May. He has no interest in drinking. It would seem ireponsible and counterproductive for me to push the booze on him too hard.

I did not have Whit's honeymoon happening in Newark.

  9. TIL that Canyon Barry works in the same department as my friend Vitas at the localk gov't contract (L3Harris). He recently put in for his leave of absence to play for the US team in 3-on-3 competition at the Paris Olympics. Barry, not Vitas.

  12. I see what you did there Rob.

Not that I need a reason to root against UGA but a friend of mine has a kid who’s a freshman C/DH for NC State. Fun fact about me- I love college baseball. I lived walking distance from Floridas old baseball stadium when I lived in Gainesville and students got in free so I attended regularly.

Last piece of this ramble, Florida now has a new baseball stadium that I’ve taken my family to numerous times. It’s on the other side of campus and it’s beautiful. These new college baseball stadiums are sick. Not too big but all the accoutrements, which lends to a tremendous atmosphere. If you’re close to a game I highly recommend you visit a high level college baseball game.
