Your Daily Gheorghe

This is why we watch sports. It's why stupid games matter to us. We get to see people in the moments that define their lives, the culmination of hard work, sacrifice, and dreams. Sometimes we see the worst, but when we're lucky, we see things like this.

Toronto Maple Leafs rookie goaltender Garret Sparks made his NHL debut last night, and shut out the Edmonton Oilers, 3-0. He was the first rookie in Leafs' history to record a shutout his debut.

Here's how he reacted when he learned that:

All kinds of awesome.

  1. tribe takes on longtime foe old dominion tonight in the tribedome. big bounceback opportunity. a loss, and the good guys are staring down a four-game losing streak, 'cause they aren't likely to beat uva on saturday.

  2. the flip side of the sporting coin from this post is tonight's lakers/sixers matchup. it's quite possibly the worst professional contest this century, if not ever.

  4. What's the prognosis for Saturday's tilt against the Spiders? Is it mostly a question as to whether Cluley can put two weeks ago behind him and not throw picks?

  8. hey gheorghies!

good stuff to catch up on . . . love rob explaining the election, but what about college educated republicans-- are they voting for trump? are they angry too? is it that weird cognitive political cloud that makes it impossible to change your perspective (whether liberal or conservative-- i don't want to pick on anyone here, and hilary clinton is abominable in her own way) in the face of logic?

any college educated republicans (who aren't dead) want to offer some commentary . . .

  9. Slouching Beast Hidden Dragon!

Am college educated, but that's up for debate considering I went to JMU. Hey-oooo!!! Am I right guys?

I can't. I won't vote for Trump. More commentary later. In my 2nd home of Houston for the day. Making it rain up in this bitch.

    Peace Out Beast

  13. OT for Rangers-Isles! The 3 v 3 format is uber-awesome. At least it was until the Isles got pinched for too many men on the ice.

  14. Duke's Brandon Ingram is 6'9" (clicks) and 190 lbs. I'm pretty sure he needs to gain some weight.

Somebody needs to put Dickie V out to pasture.

  15. Kobe is 14th in the league w/ 3 point attempts at 106. He's making 20.8% of those.

Not surprisingly, Steph is #1 w/ 211 attempts. He's making 44.5% of them, which is "only" 14th best in the league. The second most prolific 3 pt shooter is Harden at 161. He's made 29.8% of those.

I think Steph may be pretty good.

  16. Thanks Cliffy. Wait...he's only 14th best at 40 some pct? Who is first and what is the pct?

  19. David Hasselhoff has a new 80's style album up on PledgeMusic. You can get a personalized video greeting from him for only $112 or submit a song to be on the album for $90. I would love to be able to hear those song submissions.
