It's do or die for the Pantsless Griffins today

The William and Mary baseball team lost a tough one yesterday, falling 1-0 to No. 7 North Carolina State and star pitcher Carlos Rodon. The loss throws the Tribe into the losers bracket of the Raleigh Regional, meaning the Pantsless Griffins need to defeat Ole Miss at 1 pm today, then take down NC State at 6pm tonight. Oh yeah, W&M would then also need to defeat the Wolfpack again tomorrow. So, yeah, it's gonna be dicey.

I have no idea who is pitching for either team in the 1pm game, but first pitch occurs in 18 minutes so rather than do any research I will just toss this preview up as a Sunday open thread. Here's hoping the Tribesters take down Ole Miss for the second time in three days, at the bare minimum, and that they somehow pull a win out of their behinds against NC State tonight to force a game tomorrow as well.

Roll stupid colonial mythological creature thing...

  1. Roy Hibbert is an idiot for saying no homo. He will be fined and maybe suspended for a game. Probably sensitivity training too. No homo was popular five years ago but you can't pull that today.

In other news, Federer is in a five setter.

  2. ABC execs just slid Stu Jackson and David Stern envelopes of cash, praying those two suspend Hibbie so Miami can advance. It's a fine, not a suspension, motherfucker.

  4. Tribe should feel confident entering NC State game, knowing Rodon likely wont pitch at all.

  6. This defensive collapse does not bode well, however.

  8. Indeed. I'm getting my money's worth today too as I'm getting my chest tattooed. Ill get my money's worth because my guy is really talented...and because it promises to be pretty fucking painful.

  9. That soccer game was fun! We were sitting on the goal line where the US scored 2 in the second half. Lots of happy, drunk Americans.

  10. And, I tuned in to the Tribe game just in time to see the NC State grand slam. Now turning off the game--they seems to play better when I don't watch.

  15. so the back issue from several weeks ago...it's official - one herniated disc and one bulging disc. yes, disc. nothing else bulging here. i'm sure everyone was concerned. the good news is it's felt fine over the last 5 days or so. the bad news is i bought a brand new 2 wheeled motorless machine about 5 days prior to that injury. stay tuned!

mark - how's that chest feelin? what did you get?

  16. you'll all be pleased to know that scotus ruled on maryland v. king, overturning the lower court ruling and finding that the collection of dna evidence from arrestees and subsequent use in investigation of other crimes is constitutional. the barristers in the group will find the composition of the 5-4 lineup really interesting. scalia, kagan, sotomayor, and ginsberg for the minority. how's that for strange bedfellows. also, ewwww.

  19. Can somebody please explain tennis seeding? In every other sport, #1 is in the same bracket with the lowest seed and the middle seeds (1 v 16, vs winner of 8/9, etc).

WTF happens in tennis? This has been bothering me for almost 30 years (although apparently not enough to google it).

HTF is 2 playing 6 and 4 playing 32 in the quarterfinals?

And this happens in every tournament and nobody ever talks about it. How in the hell does 1 play 3 in the semi-finals? What is going on and why can't tennis people build brackets like the rest of society?

  20. is a two wheeled motorless machine the same as a bicycle? or is it one of those cool new perpetual motion scooter type things?

    ReplyDelete
  21. unfortunately, just a bicycle.

  22. jerry - fairly certain the problem with tennis is that europeans are involved. this wouldn't happen if americans were in charge. competent brackets, fuck yeah.
