I retweeted this on my twitter feed last night. And the tiny dictator loved it. So, of course he demanded that I post here this morning. Normally I'd tell him to go get bent but he did buy me a sweet bottle of whiskey a while back and this video is great.

Anybody heard the solo record by Gene Ween? I would guess it's weird, but I haven't gotten ahold of it.

ReplyDeleteTR - I'd recommend either Deep Ellum or Lower Greenville in Dallas. Both are pretty cool areas where you can walk to numerous restaurants and bars. I've partied in both areas over the years. In my experience, Deep Ellum is a little more eccentric/artsy. But both are good areas.
ReplyDeleteI would say that based on what my cousin who lives in Dallas has told me up, the Greenville area is far more thriving these days. So, go with Greenville.

ReplyDeleteAnd, the Muppets/Bachelorette event I attended in Charlotte aired tonight. Kermit did a Q&A with the audience between takes. And even though we could see the Muppeteers, you didn't look at them, b/c Miss Piggy, Kermit and Fozzie are like real people. Ended with a sing-a-long of Rainbow Connection. Ten year old me would have been crazy-jealous. and 40-something me thought it was awesome too.

ReplyDeletegene ween's solo album is excellent and so straight it's weird. he covers a bunch of rod mckuen songs-- they are sort of sappy and cheesy and he sings them fairly straight, but it still sounds like ween. i heard an interview with him the other day, i guess he had a serious meltdown last year on tour with ween and is slowing down his rock'n'roll lifetstyle.
Every time I see a woman openly reading "50 Shades of Grey" or "50 Shades Darker" on the subway I think to myself "She's hot and bothered right now."
ReplyDeleteApparently the Vancouver show in January 2011 was a nadir for Gener. The reviews (a) are pretty embarrassing and (b) sound exactly like when Random Idiots would play in the fraternity house.
