Playoff Football, Live from Jerome's SportsCave

You know him better as Wheelhouse Jerry, the guy who had such a week in late November that no one had heard from him since. Or something like that. His three TV set-up is perfect for sports viewing, so I'm headed over there for today's NFL playoff action (and whatever else finds its way to the other two TVs - college hoops, stoopid soccer, awesome darts, confusing Australian football, you name it). Because I am a lazy bum, I have chosen two video clips to represent our games today. No predictions from me, just hoping the games are 69% as good as last Saturday's fare.

Baltimore Ravens @ Pittsburgh Steelers, 4:30 kickoff
Three and a half hours of two teams beating the piss out of each other. Banging heads (or helmets), if you will...

Green Bay Packers @ Atlanta Falcons, 8:00 kickoff
I was gonna throw up the "Do you like making f**k Bezerker" clip for Greg, but I felt we had enough metal above. Instead, the thought process went like this: "Falcons...playoffs...wait, wasn't MC Hammer on the sideline back in their Glanville/90s run...oh yeah...."

  1. Anyone else watching all of these good early cbb games?

  2. You know Mustapha Farrakhan likes to split white oak.

    ReplyDelete
  3. My tattoo artist threw out his back last night. Which means my appointment for my new huge rib tattoo has been postponed until next weekend. I'm super bitter about this development as I've been eagerly anticipating this new tattoo since before Xmas. Bummer. On the bright side, I won't miss the first half of Steelers-Ravens...and I can get drunk earlier than anticipated.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Is this new tat a surprise? Or will you be sharing with the class?

    ReplyDelete
  5. You guys got room on the couch for one more?

    ReplyDelete
  6. And I really hope Mark means that he is getting a tattoo OF a huge rib.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Come on by Mayhugh. I'm buying funyons.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I'm at work right now, may have enough juice to make it for the late game.

    ReplyDelete
  9. It's a really large (will run from just below my armpit to my waist) script "E" that will look like it's stitched/embroidered. Future wife's name is Erika, thus the large "E". It's going to be pretty pretty painful and I'd psyched myself up for it ( and was pretty psyched for it). Now I have to wait another week. Crap.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Weird. That will match my right rib Erika Eleniak tattoo. Her work in "Under Siege" had a real effect on me.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Mayhugh- I'm getting a rack of ribs tattooed on my back with a side of potato salad.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I hope ur rib tat is the scene where Erika Eleniak is coming out of the bday cake...

    ReplyDelete
  13. Regarding your weird comment TJ, there's nothing normal about covering your body in tattoos.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Phase I of competitive eating weekend completed successfully. I threw down the tsunami in well under 15 minutes to make the wall of fame. Yes it was taped. Yes I feel gross. Yes I threw up outside. No, the vomiting wasn't caught on tape.

    ReplyDelete
  15. you may want to consult igor regarding the wisdom of tattooing a woman's name - or part thereof - on your body. and the cost of removing/disguising it.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Potpourri -

-To steal one of Simmons' gimmicks, Erika Eleniak is in the "Short Haired, Big Breasted Pinups of the Early 90's Who Only Got Work Because They Were Short Haired and Big Breasted" Hall of Fame. Christy Swanson is the charter member.

-Congrats TR, may the joy you feel for finishing the Tsunami outweigh the shame you feel for finishing the Tsunami.

-I generally agree with Rob's tattoo-of-a-girl's-name comment, though Mark could later claim the "E" meant any assortment of other neat things if necessary.

-Somebody give me a synopsis of the game thus far.

  17. Boring but chippy.

    Get your ass to Mars!!!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Well, this is interesting...

    ReplyDelete
  19. Nice job tr. That's a good Monday post.

U guys aren't playing butt darts over there r ya?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Did someone shoot Tomlin full of tranquilizers? He looks dazed.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Just got done writing a rough term paper at Swem.

    ReplyDelete
  22. That must be one of those inside jokes

    ReplyDelete
  23. They have libraries at William and Mary danimal. They're big buildings with books...

    ReplyDelete
  24. Halftime at sportscave is watching Bolton Wanderers and googling the atrocious field goal kicking at Heinz Field.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I've considered the point about the lack of wisdom in getting something related to a significant other tattooed on you. With that in mind, my tattoo guy and I already have a could different words we could transition into. If need be. I'm dumb. Not dumb enough to not have a parachute though.

Consideration of cost went out the window with regards to my tattoo love affair long, long ago.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I dont care who wins this game, but I would at least like to see Pittsburgh get back into it.

    ReplyDelete
  27. The Ravens are good at tackling.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Mark - is the wifey going to get a big "M" tattoo? If not, I see who wears the pants...

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hmmmm...where oh where would a nice "M" tat go on a lady?

    ReplyDelete
  30. If the Jets lose, Rex Ryan is going to get Wes Welker's foot tattooed on his left cheek.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Is it just me or does Ed Reed look like he's 50?

    ReplyDelete
  32. This epic collapse has some wheels...

    ReplyDelete
  33. According to some very mean guy on twitter, if the Ravens lose Ed Reed is jumping in the Allegheny.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I've seen better looking men than Terrell Suggs.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Holy Hell. Bluebloods is STILL on the air. I know it's not the first time I've expressed surprise over this.

Teej, I'm fading fast, probably watching the remainder of this evening's activities from my compound.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Good game....can't see charm city wining twice in pitt

    ReplyDelete
  37. So I guess Joe Flacco isn't an elite QB yet.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Sam Koch says a change is gonna come.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Once Flacco is flushed out of the pocket, there's a 50% chance something bad is going to happen. And a 30% chance that something REALLy bad is going to happen. He'd be elite if he could just stand in the pocket for 5 or 6 seconds every time.

    ReplyDelete
  40. i'm not in agreement with that holding call.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Terrible holding call. Future wife has my intials on her neck. Sucker. Though, my initials are MPH, she could turn it into a road sign.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Mayhugh, it is amazing Blue Bloods moved from a Friday to a Wednesday...unprecedented to move that direction in a TV schedule.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Holy shit, that was an amazing throw.

    ReplyDelete
  44. um, the catch was good too...

    ReplyDelete
  45. I didn't even notice it moved up in the week. I think I need to take in another episode just to see if it has dug itself out of the unwatchable zone.

And how does that WR get behind 6 DB's?

    ReplyDelete
  46. I'm really enjoying the Stadium Music. Crazy Train, BLack Betty. Good stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Actually just one effort dierdork

    ReplyDelete
  48. That squib kickoff is not what they wanted.

    ReplyDelete
  49. What the hell is Flacco doing?

    ReplyDelete
  50. A large share of the blame for this loss falls on Flacco. Not elite. Not even that close, really.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Though Houshmandzadeh kind of choked there. Bad hands, didn't come back to the ball.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Well, the Ravens 2nd half proved to be epically worse than the Steelers 1st half.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I've always been indifferent on Dierdorf, but tangential to one of Danimal's comments, did I hear him say that the Ravens cost themselves 2 touchdowns on the holding call and then the Bolden drop? Because those happened on the same series.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Jared Allen - already dropping F-bombs. I'm more excited for this game than I was expecting.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Never throw it to the guy named TJ when the game is on the line.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I really could've caught that. Freddie Mitchell is unimpressed.

    ReplyDelete
  57. And never get involved in a land war in Asia.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Is it the Zack Brown or the Zack Galifianakis Band?

    ReplyDelete
  59. The Zac Brown Band is exactly why Yankees will always scoff at Southerners.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Way late to the tattoo conversation, but Mark's huge E is way more recoverable than my queer decision to get the girl's name in full. In fact, baseball season is long over but my choice could be described as a huge E itself.

My last (and best) ink work was in 1997. Could be time for another.

    ReplyDelete
  61. who's winning this one the teej?

    ReplyDelete
  62. We took the Falcons (-1) and the over (44.5) here...

    ReplyDelete
  63. queer. stupid. either or. surprising i must say. of all people.

    ReplyDelete
  64. okay..good stuff...i too have the fal-cones.

    ReplyDelete
  65. i have a hard time believing atl is not as loud as seattle

    ReplyDelete
  66. Turner's ass and thighs are ridiculously big. They're Pam Oliver-esque.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Jerry has now also won at -180 "punt of first possession".

    ReplyDelete
  68. I'm always stunned at how un-Germanic Jason Snelling looks.

    ReplyDelete
  69. TR - finally off the bowl huh?

    ReplyDelete
  70. I yelled "oh!" four times on that play.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Eagles canned Sean Mcdermott today. Fuck them.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Geoff and I share the same sleep-deprived, scotch soaked parent brain, apparently.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I'm drinking scotch and I've been up since 4am...so you're on to something there.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Yes, but did you eat 10 pounds of buffalo wings in 15 minutes?

    ReplyDelete
  75. No, I spent my afternoon at GTB's own Dennis's son's 2nd bday party. There were 17 kids under the age of 4 there. It was a buzzsaw of crying and screaming.

    ReplyDelete
  76. One ridiculous after effect of the chick tat is that I now run in the same circles as that girl these days after not being around her for a dozen years or so. Halloween party she burst into tears in the middle of an innocuous conversation with me. (I was in a bridesmaid dress and wig; how she or anyone else took me seriously...) Anyway, an hour later she told me that her tears were really about the fact that since I moved back to town people have learned about and grilled her about the tattoo ad nauseum. Nice.

    ReplyDelete
  77. If I was an NFL coach I'd be pretty bitter about the league issue pleated pants I'd have to wear on the sidelines.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Kuhns? Kuhns used to come up on the back porch and mama'd just chase em off with a broom.

    ReplyDelete
  79. That's a lot of games to lose Troy.

    ReplyDelete
  80. igor - locale of tat?

pleats are coming back in '11

    ReplyDelete
  81. Drew Brees hocks NyQuil? Really?

    ReplyDelete
  82. Tens and tens of people enjoying Wiz/Raptors at the Verizon Center...

    ReplyDelete
  83. I'm one more month of poor eating habits and no exercise away from having a neck like Mike McCarthy.

    ReplyDelete
  84. yeah but geoff can mike mccarthy hit the ball on the screws like you? hmmm? hmmm?

    TOUCHDOWN!

    ReplyDelete
  85. Good week for white wide receivers: Stokely for Seahawks, Maehl for Oregon, Nelson for GB.

    ReplyDelete
  86. well, at least it's in a spot no one will see it. so ya got that goin for ya.

did you have a mullet too at one time? earring?

    ReplyDelete
  87. Doubtful Danimal...doubtful. Few people are as good as I think I am.

    ReplyDelete
  88. That kickoff return. Not Geoff's confidence in himself.

    ReplyDelete
  89. No one puts vavy in the corner.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Mullet. Check.

    Earring. Check.

Duran Duran greatest hits CD. Check.

    God bless 1989.

    ReplyDelete
  91. You could set your watch to Eric Weems hairline.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Nice work son...you stoopid donk...

    ReplyDelete
  93. really? you need oxygen? you just ran 100 yards. you're a professional athlete. it's your job. and it's 5 minutes after the fact.

    ReplyDelete
  94. OK Troy Aikman, that made me chuckle.

    ReplyDelete
  95. They are really upping the degree of difficulty on Rodgers.

    ReplyDelete
  96. sorry. i take for granted that not everyone has completed an ironman.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Now that Aaron Rodgers...he can throw a football farther than Swint.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Tribe men's hoops thumped Drexel tonight. Drexel thumped ODU Thursday. Can't say I saw that coming at all.

    ReplyDelete
  99. I convinced one of the younger guys at the DLC's wedding that I got the letters tattooed on my scrotum. The conversation went on for a good 5 minutes before I told him I was kidding.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Is it "escapability" or "escape ability"?

    ReplyDelete
  101. Wow. Tribe beat Drexel 80-66 at Tribe Dome.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Sorry for scooping you, The Teej.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Wow. Deion Sanders reference. (Deion's ego didn't need that. )

    ReplyDelete
  104. Coy Wire: former Bill. First rounder I think.

    ReplyDelete
  105. I like that formation they ran behind.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Oregon would have gone for 2 there.

    ReplyDelete
  107. This game is not setting up well for ATL. Defense has already been out there a while.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Geoff just made Chip Kelly cry.

    ReplyDelete
  109. And Brian Kelly makes danimal cry weekly during cfb season.

    ReplyDelete
  110. These rich pricks who haven't missed a super bowl are really grating on me.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Karma/football gods might force one of those fellas to miss this year...

    ReplyDelete
  112. What's the over/under on the number of NFL players Pam Oliver has serviced?

    ReplyDelete
  113. Wiz are unreal. About to go 11-9 at home...yet still winless on the road (0-19).

    ReplyDelete
  114. That's at least the 3rd time Woodson has blitzed. They need to adjust with a quick slant.

    ReplyDelete
  115. After game Rodgers tossing salads belonging to
    Joe and troy

    ReplyDelete
  116. It's hard to tell if Rodgers is really really good or if his receivers make him look better than he really is.

    ReplyDelete
  117. He's really good.

    And Alex Smith is not.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Yep...I'm going with really good.

    ReplyDelete
  119. If anyone is looking for a unique wedding gift for me, I'd like some of the PEDs that Clay Matthews uses.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Good no doubt, but would he look as good if he played for the Rams, Browns, Bills, etc?

    ReplyDelete
  121. Mark, I was going to get you a giant "Z" tattoo.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Yes. He is very good, and would elevate the team he is on.

    ReplyDelete
  123. i think we're lookin at gb vs ne

    ReplyDelete
  124. he's no clausen...but he awwight

    ReplyDelete
  125. I think GB should trade him to Buffalo to settle this once and for all.

    ReplyDelete
  126. the dukes atop the colonial. i'm sure you guys knew that though.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Rodgers is good for a number of reasons but his release and his quick feet really separate him from a number of other QBs.

    ReplyDelete
  128. I've heard that I have a quick release. It wasn't a compliment.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Anyone know who the player was selected one pick before Aaron Rodgers?

    ReplyDelete
  130. Pat Ramsey? Jason Campbell?

    ReplyDelete
  131. Jason Campbell? But only after surrounding three picks to move into that spot?

    ReplyDelete
  132. At least they didn't trade Fred Taylor's pick for Rob Johnson.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Yeah, I guess he is that good.

    ReplyDelete
  134. So I spent halftime reading an article about how a failure to raise the debt ceiling will immediately lead to one of two circumstances: the US will default on many loans and the intl economy will implode or people will stop getting social security and medicare checks. Should be interesting. I'll put the odds that the House GOP votes down the debt ceiling increase at about 30%.

    ReplyDelete
  135. I spent my halftime sifting through college hoops stats.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Do you think that guys in China get "STRENGTH" or "WISDOM" or stuff like that tattooed on themselves in English?

    ReplyDelete
  137. I think random Japanese kids who admire American culture do. In fact, one of my friends who plays in a hardcore band that's toured in Japan has photographic evidence of such things.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Aaron Rodgers is good. And so are the rest of the Packers. Seems like they're peaking before out eyes.

    ReplyDelete
  139. GB's skill players give 110% once they get the ball.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Interesting. Do you think John Abraham is really into Japanese culture?

    ReplyDelete
  141. hey guys! what's been going on this evening? been at my company's 'holiday' party. bitter? no, why do you ask?

    ReplyDelete
  142. No. And I'm willing to bet that at least one of his japanese tats doesnt mean what he thinks it does.

    ReplyDelete
  143. rob, your company has a MLK Day party?

    ReplyDelete
  144. Your company and it's mid-January holiday party is among the dumbest shit I've ever heard of. Well, that and the thought that Aaron Rodgers isn't an elite QB.

    ReplyDelete
  145. i'll be attending holiday parties at different regional offices the next two weeks, as well. only bright spot is a staff meeting with dave and mr truck next week.

    ReplyDelete
  146. To further the point on Rodgers, he's currently 27-31 for 330 yds, 3 TDs passing and 1 TD rushing.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Big day for Shlara's teams: steelers, wizards and tribe all win today.

    ReplyDelete
