Good karma and skanky outfits? That's alright with me.

It's no secret that I grew up in the South. What is a secret to some is that there was plenty of hip-hop coming out of the south before the emergence of the scenes in Atlanta, New Orleans and Houston. And most of that "music" came out of my home state of Florida. Every scene has it's own style, and the style in Florida at the time consisted fast paced beats and basic rhyme styles focused on parties full of women with loose hips and even looser morals.

During this time, one of the leaders was DJ Magic Mike, who at one time ruled Orlando. So, with the Magic badly in need of a home win to even their series against the Celtics, I thought it only appropriate to send some karma their way with this classic from my youth. Did I have this on tape? Yes. Did I rock the ever living shit out of this song in elementary school and junior high? You're damn right. Did I badly want to participate in whatever it is the young lasses in this video are doing on stage during this time? You bet your sweet northern ass I did. So, in the interest of good karma as well as easier commenting for tonight's game, I present you with Drop the Bass by Orlando's own DJ Magic Mike. Watch the video. It's a nice trip on the way back machine and you be treated to some fine lyrics as well.

"Since you can jam to this with ease. Go pick a fly girl that you want to skeez, like the one with the nipple showing through that lace. Work your body while you drop that bass"...that's poetry motherfucker.

Go Magic.

  1. Sorry Jerome. I hope you enjoy DeMarcus Cousins...or maybe Derrick Favors.

  2. Prokhorov is already exploring the possibility of bribing the Sixers to pass on Turner.

  3. Here's my take on what the Magic must do offensively (besides not turn the ball over as much and shoot it better):

Push the ball more and get Howard chances in transition. In the halfcourt, they need to spread the floor more and use Howard in P&R situations as well as a screener. Don't just dump it in to him. He's not skilled enough one on one and not a good enough passer. It slows down the pace which favors the Celtics. They can penetrate against this team and get good looks from 3 on the kickout. Make the Celtics adjust to that style of play. I also think Reddick needs to play more and, surprisingly, that more about defense. He does the best job of anyone on Orlando of covering Allen off of screens. Carter isn't dedicated enough to do it consistently.

  4. He should bring Eddie Sutton on as his "envelope full of cash" guy.

  5. anybody got any good soccer drills for u6 girls? the wildcats are strugg-a-ling, and i'm going all mike brown on them.

  6. U6? Can they even walk at that age?

  7. Running 'em til they puke.

  8. We finally have a real point guard.
    And he's really good!!!

  9. Best training for any players before middle school is small sided keep ball. At that age, it's probably 5 trying to keep it away from 2 in a medium sized circle.

Really, they shouldn't be playing any games with more than 5 players on a side.

  10. By the way, ill do the job for Wiz Marketing office...2010-11 Wiz can have poster saying "Great Wall of Chinatown"

  11. they play 3v3, jerry. i'm trying to get them to be more aggressive - mostly i've succeeded in teaching them to kick my shins.

  12. I loathe late whistles. Matt Barnes is playing his ass off on D. I love himbut I'm pretty sure I'd hate him if he didn't play on the Magic.

  13. The Magic are far superior defensively with Barnes and Redick on the wings instead of Carter. Unfortunately, when that combo is in there is no way they can score consistently.

  14. Perkins just shoved Howard out of bounds. Sorry Van Gundy, he did. You can shove a guy with your body when he's in the air.

  16. Mark, you might want to take to your Twitter machine and go look at what Whitlock just wrote.

  17. care to share with the class, teej?

  18. He's asking if Skip to My Lou at point was better than Jameer at point because Jameer is more a scorer. I didn't click on the actual article.

  19. He thinks it's an ACC Tourney game.

  20. I'm not ashamed to say I've become a JJ Redick fan. He hits shots, plays hard D and has become a pretty complete player. Especially considering where he was when he started his career.

  21. Somehow "Kwame Brown" is trending right now on Twitter, but not "John Wall"

    ReplyDelete
  22. Whitlock makes a legit point. People forget how up and down Rafer could be though. For this year's team though, Jameer is a better option. They need his P&R scoring and ability to create without Hedo.

  23. Gortat has been far better than Rashard Lewis so far in the series. Not a good recipe for Los Magicians.

  24. Vince Carter acts like defenders have leprosy when he drives the lane.

  25. Did you guys see this story about Manute?
    So sad...

  27. Somebody tell JVG the difference between a pit boss and a crew chief.

A huge shot by Matt Barnes to close the half.

  28. Howard's been very good though I fear he may be suspended for Game 3.

Paul Pierce acting like he wanted a piece of Howard was comical. Though, when you're scoring like he is you can get away with that bs.

Redick needs to play more and Nelson needs to be more aggressive going to the hoop. If not to score, at least to put pressure on the defense.

Rashard Lewis is being punked by the Celtics.

  30. Kendrick Perkins' ugliness is fascinating. it's like he's a living Stonehenge character. I feel like I could right a 5-page essay on how weird he looks.

  31. digression: i'm only four songs into listening to the new band of horses record, but it's pretty damn terrific so far.

  34. The Magic are fucked on offense right now. Proper fucked.

  35. Vince hurt his javy vazquez.

  39. Big Baby is a world class flipper. That was a legit charge though.

Magic look like they want to give up.

  40. Howard's head is smaller than each of his shoulders. Very weird. Like he has some smaller dude's head.

  41. Hey iPhone! Stop correcting my spelling. You're no good at it.

  42. We're spending way too much time checking out other dudes. With that said, Rondo just looks like an asshole. As in not a nice guy, not an actual asshole.

  45. Redick could have 20+ tonight if he could knock down something from midrange.

  46. That's genius Z. Get on it.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Rashard Lewis should be ashamed of his performance so far in this series. Soft on both ends, even for him.

    ReplyDelete
  48. SVG is even frumpier than JVG. Can't he at least wear a long sleeve turtleneck? And why do they make short sleeve turtlenecks?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Perkins is out and big baby has 4? Does this mean it may be scalabrene time?

    ReplyDelete
  50. Can somebody explain why a veteran team with as many scoring options as the Celtics always blows leads in the 4th?

    ReplyDelete
  51. I can't. But I can tell you that when I finally give up and shave my head I'll look like Gortat with Costanza's body.

    ReplyDelete
  52. 4th quarter. 1 point game. Under 4 minutes left. Howard's chatting and cheesing with fans coming out of a TO. Fuck.

    Vince, you pussy.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I say it a lot but I fucking hate what passes for a charge these days.

    ReplyDelete
  54. The refs dislike your boy JJ.

  56. Vince isn't too mentally tough is he.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Yep. I wasn't in love with that call. Never shouldve come to that though. Have to get a rebound off the initial miss.

Vince, you motherfucking mental pussy. Not that big a surprise though. He just doesn't relish these moments.

  58. Wince is Nick Anderson 2.0

    ReplyDelete
  59. The Magic's collective lack of mental toughness was the difference tonight. FUUUUUCK.
