Can You Tell Me How to Get...

2009 marks the 40th anniversary of the much-beloved Sesame Street, and we're starting the celebration early here at G:TB with a roll call of our favorite characters. For me:

(Note: this has no connection to yesterday's post. None, whatsover.)

  1. I have an 18 month-old son who loses his shit whenever Sesame Street is on. I'm pretty sure he worships Elmo because he goes into a faux-epileptic fit when he sees him. Or maybe it's a real epileptic fit. I should probably look into that.

So I've gotten my fix of that program in the last few months. My favorite character is a deep-cut choice: Telly.

  2. Without Cookie Monster I would not have been able to drink a cup of coffee in peace during the last 2 years.

    C is for cookie.
    That's good enough for me.

  3. I was always a huge fan of Guy Smiley. He's one of my role models.

  5. When I was two years old, I wanted to be a "Manha Manha" when I grew up--you know the puppet with the fuzzy hair who sang the song with the two "do do da do do" girls in the background?

There was a Jim Henson exhibit at the Smithsonian this summer and they had all three of those muppets on display--it was so cool-when I saw them I had a fit like Rhyme's 18-month old son.

  7. Shlara - If you had a fit like my son, that meant you drooled, pooped your pants, threw my cell phone down a flight of stairs and then smiled at me.

  8. This was just sent to me. Dave would be happy - it's a comment that fits with the post for once.

A local kid I see...and I answered my own question: "The best outside linebacker in the 2009 class according to Rivals.com"

  11. According to ESPN.com, the feds' evidence against Barry Bonds includes:

witness descriptions of Bonds' "physical, behavioral and emotional characteristics" -- including acne on his back, testicle shrinkage, head size, hat size, hand size, foot size and sexual behavior

I can't wait to see who has been keeping track of Barry's testicle size.

  12. Oliver Purnell is rocking a sweet orange velvet sportcoat. Nice take on the loud school color sportcoat trend amongst college basketball coaches.

  13. I don't see how this Duke team will go very far in this tourney. They will have to be ridiculous from the 3 pt line to make any kind of fun. They are not tough at all. Henderson is the only guy on that team I really like.

  14. tribe jumps ugly on northeastern and uncw beats vcu - caa's tiny, flickering hopes of a second bid extinguished.

and the baby deacs are figuring out that they have to play the whole season. yikes.

  15. I usually don't stick around for a blow-out, but this Clemson win is kind of fun to watch.

  16. I can't imagine that this week has gone the way RhymO had hoped fro the Knickerbockers.

Also, I have no idea how you people manage to live up north. It's been in the 30s at night 4-5 times over the past two weeks down here and I'm about ready to move to Costa Rica.
