It's that time of year again...

While I ponder how bad Notre Dame might be this year (and whether Michael survived that Appy St debacle), enjoy Mr. Madison as he heads "back to school, back to school..."

  1. 1. Why in god's name would anyone search the interweb for this?

    2. Why would the interweb ever think to send them here?

  2. The Minnesota Vikings are seriously going to start their 2007 campaign with Tarvaris (no spell check, I did not type that incorrectly) Jackson at QB?

  3. let's revisit my premature pigskin prognostication from july, shall we?

Delaware @ W&M – nationally televised home opener for the Tribe under the lights at Zable Stadium. C’mon, no chance I’m picking Delaware here. Tribe by 10.

missed this one, but in my defense, homerism required that i pick the tribe. looks like a long season ahead for the green and gold.

LSU @ Mississippi State – Sylvester Croom remains a nice story. And LSU remains light years better than his Bulldogs. LSU by 21 on the road.

pretty close. lsu's good, and croom is southern-speak for lloyd carr.

Navy @ Temple – Why? Because I love me some triple option. Navy by 16.

middies by 11 - i'll call this one a win, too.

Colorado State @ Colorado – I know next to nothing about these teams except the fact that CSU’s helmets are cool and they beat the snot out of their cross-state rivals on a regular basis. Not so fast, my friends. Buffs by 3.

on the number, baby. and you took me seriously when i said i knew nothing about these teams. pshaw.

Northeastern @ Northwestern – Geographic antonyms, get it? Not really. Whatever. The Huskies give their D-I hosts a run before losing by 14.

no such run occurred, but 14 is close enough to 27. another win for me.

Georgia Tech @ Notre Dame – Which loss hurts more, Calvin Johnson or Brady Quinn? If you don’t know the answer, you probably shouldn’t hang out here. Irish by 11.

oof. i could've done better here.

Washington State @ Wisconsin – Wazzu makes the trek to Madison for an interesting intersectional. Camp Randall’s a tough place to play – Badgers by 14.

close going into the 4th before the badgers pulled away.

Kansas State @ Auburn – Two teams I despise intensely. Tie, after both inbred fanbases rush the field during a cheerleading stunt, thinking that the game’s over. Alright, maybe Auburn wins by 17.

or 10, in a game that was a lot closer than i expected.

Tennessee @ California – Big revenge factor here after the Vols put it on the Bears in the season opener last year in Knoxville. Nice little conference you got there, Pac-10. Shame we have to bludgeon it to death. Rocky Top by 10.

me and les miles missed this one by, um, miles. as i noted to teejay, cal is wicked fast. and tennessee may not be all that good.

Florida State @ Clemson – I refuse to acknowledge this game because it’s being played on a Monday night. Enough is enough, people.

i'll still count it as a win.

  4. Wish I'd had your grading system in college -- it might not have taken me as long to graduate.

  6. Couple things: Brad Childress says that Tavaris is ahead of where McNabb was at this point in his career. Oh sure...definitely--whatever helps you sleep at night, Bradley.

Rob...equating Lloyd Carr with Sly Croom is wrong. I mean, Lloyd's seat is hotter right now than any girl Swint's ever kissed, but he's no Sly Croom.

  7. nice to see that geoff's gift for equivocation survived his honeymoon.
